2022-08-09 06:47:53 It is Muharram, one of the 4 sacred months!

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Time has come back to its original state which it had when Allah created the Heavens and the Earth; the year is twelve months, four of which are sacred. Three of them are in succession; Dhul-Qa'dah, Dhul-Hijjah and Al-Muharram, and (the fourth being) Rajab Mudar (named after the tribe of Mudar as they used to respect this month) which stands between Jumada (ath-thani) and Sha'ban."
Sahih al-Bukhari 4662

The Sacred Months were honored in Arab society even in the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic period). From the narrations we know that the Arabs used to cease all kinds of fighting during the sacred months of Dhul-Q’adah, Dhul-Hijjah, Muharram, and Rajab. They used to stop fighting, causing any mischief, killing, and looting etc. during these four sacred months. Even if they would see the killer of their father in front of them, they would not hurt him due to the sanctity of these months.

Sadly, we are so unaware of these months that they come and go without us noticing them, let alone honoring them.

We should honor these months that Allahﷻ has made obligatory upon us to honor.

To do so, we need to make sure that we refrain from abusing anyone physically, verbally and/or mentally

We should also refrain from all the actions that can lead to fighting, such as
backbiting
negative thinking
harsh language
jealousy
animosity
etc.

We should also do good deeds so that Allahﷻ is pleased with us such as
Fasting
Praying
Reciting Qur’an
Enjoining good
Forbidding evil
Strengthening family ties
Repenting for our sins
Remembering Allah ﷻ excessively
Giving charity
and more...

Goal: Strive to do all the deeds that please Allah ﷻ and refrain from harming others which can lead to His displeasure...

2022-08-07 22:06:24 What if I have missed the 9th of Muharram Fast?

No worries
You can still fast on the 10th of Muharram الــــحـــمـــد للّٰـــــه

Those who did not Fast on the 9th of Muharram can still Fast on the 10th.

Fasting on the 9th of Muharram is preferred and not a condition.

Fasting on the 9th & 10th of Muharram is in order to oppose the Yahood who only Fast on the 10th.

If one only Fasts on the 10th of Muharram, then their Fasting is valid. Those who Fast on the 10th of Muharram will have reward of having the sins of their previous year forgiven.

One should not oppose the Sunnah if they have the ability.

One should be keen to emulate the Prophet ﷺ to the best of their ability.

So, intentionally missing out on the 9th is not encouraged. But those who missed on the 9th can still Fast on the 10th.

To oppose the Yahood, one can Fast on the 10th & 11th of Muharram (as some of the scholars have said), but the preferred is to Fast on the 9th & 10th of Muharram, as the Prophet ﷺ had preferred.

For he ﷺ wanted to excel the Jews by Fasting a day ahead of them, and joining it with the 10th of Muharram.

Fasting on all the three days together, i.e. the 9th, 10th, and 11th is not supported by an authentic Hadeeth, rather, the Hadeeth in this regards is weak.
