House member Cheney says it is "absolutely clear that what President Trump was doing ... was illegal"
House of Representatives member Liz Cheney said on Sunday that the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 uprising "has not made a decision" to refer criminal cases to the Justice Department, but added that it was "absolutely clear what President Trump was dealing with when some people around him did things that they knew were illegal. They were doing it anyway."
"I think what we've seen is a massive, well-organized and well-planned effort in which various tools were used to try to undo the election," the Wyoming Republican.
Cheney, who is on the committee, also retracted Sunday's New York Times article that said the committee was divided on whether Trump should be punished for criminal contempt, saying, "There's really no disagreement on the committee."
