We're back with a few announcements :)

1. Canary Release (4th April 2021) (R/Q)

While we had a lot of Canary Releases recently, we're up with one last before we could go to Stable Release!
- This one comes with addon v3 support (since LOS officially moved addon.d to v3)
- We added support for 4 more google apps - GoogleDuo, GoogleSheets, GoogleDocs, GoogleSlides. (we will update the website shortly)

2. Going Open-Source

We wanted to make sure we have everything setup before we went open-source, now that we do, developers can contribute towards NikGapps and help the community with more and more updates.
- This also enables us to keep track of the open isues so we can bring them to closure. Please make sure you create an issue with proper logs in the issue tab of NikGapps-build repo if you're experiencing any issue with NikGapps, bugs reported on github repository will be our priority.
- This also takes us to the next level and offer more than just predefined gapps and addons. (Look for 3rd announcement).

Note: Usage of any of the NikGapps resources will only be allowed if it follows with proper credits, we reserve the right to take action against those who steal our hard work without credits.

3. Ability to build your custom NikGapps package [Beta]

- Yes, now you can build a NikGapps package with exactly the apps you wish be part of the package.
- No, you don't need a server to build it
- No, you don't need to learn coding to build it
- Yes, It is very simple, you only need your edited nikgapps.config file which you're using to customize your installation. Follow the steps on NikGapps-config repo and you'll be good to go!
- Yes, we worked really hard to achieve this for you!

Thank you for your support, so we are able to keep providing and improving our NikGapps packages for free to everyone who needs it.

We realized that we can't answer all the questions in support group because our team has been busy with personal stuff lately and it's leading into dissatisfaction from users that are facing some problems but we're trying to keep notes for bugs and stuff and we thank you for your reports.

Due to overwhelming reports between number of users that need support and number of admins active, we don't have too much time like we used to have in the past. Thus, we need your help.

We recently purged inactive admins, we appreciated your contribution and feel free to reapply if you have time again.

If some of you are interested in helping other users and have knowledge to guide them patiently and just be polite to them, please let us know by sending pm to @NikhilMenghani or @DrAmoled.

Small sneak peaks for next release will include 64 bit chrome.

In case you're wondering why we're having random canary releases. Let me officially announce it for you.

We've decided to build NikGapps only when there is a change in installer script or there are playstore updates making the download worth your time.

The reason why we're doing this is because it doesn't motivate us or rather make sense in building Gapps unless there are some changes involved.

In last few days, we have been working on setting up the builds such that it recognizes whether or not there are significant changes made to the source or there are playstore updates. It's safe to say that we're 80% there.

We're also working on updating the changelog on the website with every canary release so that you are aware of the changes introduced and you know whether to download the new release or not.

Hope this makes it easier for you!

Changelog:
- Fixed YouTube Vanced Root version not working (Thanks to @coin3x, @DrAMoled, @nezorflame, @r6680jc, @etahamad, @itisyewolf, @MilindGoel15)
- Fixed Android tv remote app crash
- Add missing GBoard properties
- Ship GoogleRecorder 2.1
- Playstore Updates (R) (27th Jan)

Note:
- All the builds going forward will come with changelog file within the zip for those who are curious about the changelog. (I will try and upload it outside too later on so you don't have to download the whole zip just to check the changelog)
- Clean flash is must for everything to work fine!

This build is closest to stable Android 11.
Feedback is required so it can be moved to Stable Releases. :)

Rooted Vanced YouTube works now!

2021-01-24 09:14:41 New Release is up! (Q/R) (24th Jan 2021)

Changelog:
- Fixed an issue where sideloading of NikGapps packages failed
- Fixed an issue where the permissions were resetting upon dirty flashing NikGapps
- Mounting fixes (require feedback from users with dynamic partitions on space issue)
- Many under the hood improvements

Note:
It is really difficult to keep track of existing issues, kindly open a issue on Gitlab with proper details and logs.

For those who would like to contribute to the project in any form (updating wiki, updating website blogs, updating apks, fixing a bug, etc), feel free to reach out to @DrAMoled or @iNikhilMenghani

To start with, following is the repository for all the apks used in NikGapps.

You can send a PR with updated apks and it will be reflected in next scheduled release.

NikGapps builds are now automated (huge thanks to @ElytrA8 for helping with the automation)

The release will contain bleeding edge features which will move to monthly stable releases after they are tested.

Note:
- This is the final build for Pie users. We will only release new build for pie users if current one has issues/stops working with rom updates
- NikGapps variants are redesigned (we have dropped macro variant, instead we're releasing all the individual google apps addons in @NikGappsGroup group)
- Remember, this is exclusive for those who use NikGapps, so the addons will only work on top of NikGapps packages. so if you wish to flash them on top of Rom with inline gapps! flash NikGapps core, then you'll be able to flash the addons.
- YouTube vanced v14 is removed from this release as it is outdated
- Vanced Manager is added with default config value 0 (users can opt to install it by changing nikgapps.config)
- nikgapps.config is updated to v11, please make sure you are on latest config.

Always take backup before flashing if you care about your data. Dirty flash 'should' work but you need to be on latest nikgapps.config

A few announcements before the next release!

1. Vanced YouTube

- In our recent discussion with vanced team, we wanted to address an issue that has been bugging a lot of users. That is, not being able to install the latest version of YouTube Vanced on top of existing one.
- With v14 being an outdated version, in the best interest of everyone, we've decided to discontinue shipping that version with NikGapps packages.
- With that, we're going to ship vanced manager instead of YouTube Vanced v14 for users to independently install whichever vanced version they want to install.
- The issue that you're experiencing with YouTube Vanced root version where the play services are not compatible. The root cause is still unknown and the workaround of that is to use non root version.

2. NikGapps Variants Definitions

- With the current definition of variants that we have, there is a big gap between omni and macro variant and we'd like to address that.
- We've decided to re-define the packages regrouping them based on their association with other google apps. For e.g. Dialer goes with Contacts and Messages.
- Thanks to NikGapps Addons we can now drop macro variant allowing users to flash addons to meet their desired gapps package.
- Following is the new definition of NikGapps variants.

Core - No changes

Basic - Core + Wellbeing, Vanced Manager, Dialer, Messages, Contacts, Carrier Services, Clock

Omni - Basic + Setup Wizard, Calculator, Drive, Maps, Gmail, Photos, Health Services

Stock - Omni + Pixel Launcher, DPS, Velvet, Files, Play Games, Calendar, Markup, Sound, Wallpaper, Feedback, Partner Setup

Full - No changes

With one less variant to maintain, we'd be able to provide faster updates!

3. NikGapps Addons

- We're glad to announce that with next release we'd be releasing all the individual google apps packages as addons (such as Gmail, Calendar, etc)
- These addons will be exclusive for NikGapps users.
- Those who are on NikGapps can benefit from individual addons that they can download from @NikGappsGroup.
- With this, you can choose a lower variant and download only the ones that you need.

4. NikGapps Release Updates

- With limited resources, we bear the cost of the project and its quite difficult to maintain builds for every version.
- We'd be dropping pie support with our last pie release
- Pie will receive another update only if the last build stops working
- Android Q and R will have regular updates
