1. Most river otter species are monogamous and mate for life.


2. They were hunted throughout history, yet they persevered and are now restoring their population.


3. They're incredibly adaptable, throw them on an island with not a lot of fish to eat and they'll learn to hunt rabbits. As is the case for the otters living on the Shetland Islands.


4. Imagine a soft animal, in fact, an animal with the softest fur in the animal kingdom. Alright? Now, if you didn't immediately think of a sea otter, get out. They in fact have the densest fur in the animal kingdom, double layered and filled with air.


5. They thrive in every environment. Cold? No problem. Hot? No problem. Which is why they're all over the world, except Australia, no one can survive in Australia.


6. Sea otters are very violent when mating, sometimes even forcing themselves on their partner. No beta otters here, only true chads.


7. Imagine having looks so threating that you strike fear into the hearts of your enemies purely by existing. That's the daily life of a giant otter, some might call them ugly, some might call them demons, they're both wrong. Giant otters are in fact, based.


8. They have built-in storage. Sea otters have a pouch in their armpit where they keep their weapon, a big rock they personally chose for maximum damage with minimum effort.
