A candlelighter such as me lit the halls ways, In a sense to m | Every Day Poems

A candlelighter such as me lit the halls ways,
In a sense to make the brightest rays,
And shed a light upon the broken consort,
But all was in vain for it was too late,

The place to be was a cell away from home,
And the candle in the wind was doomed to die on the vine,
And to stay the course in the sleepless night,
I shall not wish on any king or knight,

So ran away from my sight,
I don't belong as the light of one's eye,
I don't fit in with that sweet
lie.
