She can always come back, always recover. But this time his touch is all she knew she ever wanted. She is scared. The high of a good scare.

2021-11-06 23:18:18 He thought of her as being stoic. And he thought of her as being beautiful.

He once had everything. He still loves her. Couldn’t risk waiting to find out his chance, and recalling she could tell he came from a home where things of past were not a consideration, he unwittingly said, “We are passing this off. Again? Maybe what we had before won’t be waiting when we get back.”

He thought that was all he needed to do to come out okay.

He realized there is no crossing back. He wished he had not been so quick to make a decision for a moment he waited for so long.

He suddenly lost savor of the moment. He didn’t like being there long. He had to get out. Somehow.

Little did they know how much of a coincidence it has been, finding both of them there at their sorry place to stay.

“Don’t lose it now,” he said to no one, as he wends his way near her.
Straining to see the significance of the find, time seemed to go into suspension. They waited wordlessly. Neither spoke. Each one thinking about what the other had said so far. So far had gotten nowhere.

2021-11-05 18:41:41 She had fallen, and had been lied to. Now she has a distance in her eyes, being reminded of men she had seen and known after him.

None the less, he was of no interest to her. He was a symbol of what could happen, of how easily one could fall.

He had somehow fallen. Talking to her someday would seal it, he guess. There, at the grass square that flanked a bit of their childhood, the same place where earlier expectations were not met. Out in the open, out there to be cleared. See where things stand.

“Why now? Why so long? It’s been years,” she murmured, upon seeing him.
She looked tired of it all.

2021-11-05 17:09:29 “If I see you, I see you.” Reasons were not a requirement. Why would he reason, make himself clear, that would have been petty.
He didn’t want the time with her to end, but she had her personal reasons to back her up with; he did not have yet the answers to questions she would surely ask. So the idea, of telling her what he had realized, was discarded for the time being.

He trailed off. What’s left is nothing needing an immediate return.
