2022-11-16 08:14:33 Error Correction Day

Making mistakes can be one of the most effective ways of learning a new language, as long as you are being corrected in the right way.

In my classes, I spend some time after a speaking activity or at the end of the class correcting mistakes with students. Sometimes the mistake is a slip where you know the mistake and sometimes it is new vocab or grammar you haven't done yet.

For all my classes, I record them so we can keep practising them later on so that you can recognise the mistake and auto-correct yourself.

Today we will go through some mistakes my students are making.

But first I need to ask a question for you guys.......

2022-11-15 15:53:47 Phrasal Verbs - Personality

Phrasal verbs are one of the toughest parts of English and we use them every day in our regular speech. So we need to learn them and practise them.

Read the sentence and try to understand the meaning

Look up to - admire

I look up to my mother as she is so patient

Take after - have a similar personality as one of your parents

My brother takes after my dad because he can be quite selfish sometimes

Look like - have a similar appearance
People tell me I look like Ricky Gervais

Bring up - raise a child

My mother brought me up well by teaching me good manners

Grow up - live in a place as a kid
