Here is another great dad story, having to do with fear. On 9/11, I was almost 17. For the first time, I became terrified, gripped with fear of dying unexpectedly.

I had been selected to attend a youth leadership conference in Washington, DC that November. After the attacks I was hesitant to go.

Without delay - my dad: “I didn’t serve three (bleeping) tours in Vietnam for my son to be afraid of a bunch of Stone Age, camel herding savages.”

1) Take the convictions you have and find a way to get involved. Find what it is that YOU do that you do better than anyone else, and do it. Contact people to find out locally where you can fit in. Then trust that GOD straightens your path (Proverbs 3:5-6). He wants you to honor him with your skills. He went through the effort to knit you together - why would he not position you to point others to him with your talents? This is the fight you are made for. This is the road of life. It also requires you to care for and mentor/develop the people in your life and cause them to dream positive things, rather than embrace and accept despair.

2) Choose death. Insist it is all lost. Put God in a box and ignore history, which tells you that people have always, with help of God, overcome evil and suppression and subjugation. History has its cycles and we are in a period of change. This is why I put the Mark Twain quote up yesterday.

3) There are no other choices. Choice 1 or Choice 2. Be mindful that your words online have the ability to inspire or deflate. Open / Comment
