Niantic just announced the India Wayfarer Challenge on the Wayfarer community forum.

Eligibility:L10+ Ingress Agents and L38+ Pokémon Go Trainers with home/bonus locations in India.
Event Duration: 16 March 2021 at 00:00 a.m. IST to 26 March 2021 at 00:00 a.m. IST.
Reward Duration: The weekend of the Holi festival.

Tier 1 Rewards(3000 new wayspots approved):
Ingress: 20 Resonators and 20 Power Cubes according to Agent Level (maximum of L8 gear for L8+ agents).
Pokémon Go: Smeargle is more common in snapshots!

Tier 2 Rewards(5000 new wayspots approved):
All from previous tiers and
Ingress: 3 Rare Heat Sink, 3 Rare Multi-Hack, and 3 Rare Link Amp.
Pokémon Go: Chance to catch shiny Murkrow.

Tier 3 Rewards(8000 new wayspots approved):
All from previous tiers and
Ingress:1 Softbank Ultra Link Amp, 1 ITO EN(-) and 1 ITO EN(+).
Pokémon Go: 2× Catch XP.

2021-02-24 04:25:02 Niantic has released a blog post talking about their recent anticheating efforts. Since the beginning of 2020 Niantic has issued over 5 million punishments for cheating, with over 20% resulting in permanent bans. More is in the works specifically for Ingress to help combat spoofing during ops. Stay tuned for more information Soon(tm) from Niantic.

2021-02-20 06:19:53 Niantic has just announced that they are in the process of expanding their Ingress community team with a new Community Specialist Role.

This role would be actively engaged in building trust, interacting with user content, representing the voices of Ingress agents from collected feedback, and representing the Ingress team online and at events.

2021-02-12 23:59:53 A new Layers button will be added to the scanner, once the next Ingress update is available to all players. This will allow agents to see portals visited, captured, or scout controlled, like what is available currently on the Intel Map!

2021-02-12 03:54:41 Niantic introduced a special Lunar New Year event from Feb 12 5PM UTC to Feb 16 5PM UTC focusing on L5 and L6 items:

Deploy four L5 and L6 Resonators.
L4, L5, L6 XMP will have 1.5x damage
Friendly portals give 2X more Resonators and Cubes
Portal Recharge 100 AP

Also, a free bundle of tracker, RES and ENL fireworks will be available in in-app store, along with resonator bundle and 2000 CMU Fracker.
