ИГРА НЕ СТОИТ СВЕЧ Literal definition: the game is not worth candles
Meaning: about a task or activity that does not justify the effort it takes. According to one of the theories, the idiom originates from French "Le jeu ne vaut pas is chandelle". It first appeared in times when there was no electricity and all card games held in the evenings required players to light up the table. If the stakes were low, the potential gain could not even compensate the cost of the candles burned during the session.
