US markets close in the red as inflation hits 30-year highs which sees profit booking across the board with technology stocks seeing a selloff. Nasdaq falls over 1.6% while Dow Jones falls 0.60%. Bond yields spike to 1.57% with the US$ index also seeing 1-year highs at 94.97, while Gold rises over 1% as the best hedge against rising inflation.

Asian markets opened mixed with the Japanese 'Nikkei' trading higher by 100 points while Taiwan and South Korean markets traded in the red after the selloff in US tech stocks. Steel stocks see a sharp pullback in global markets after the sharp selloff in the last few days as prices bounce back. Chinese stocks could see contrarian buying interest as most commodity players see renewed bout of buying return before end of the year.

The Nifty saw a close in the red 2nd day running but not before extreme intraday volatility as the index gyrated over 146 points from lows to close lower by 27 points. This as local funds continue to buy with foreign selling also ebbing as select pockets become attractive. Nyaka had a dream debut as it scaled a market cap of over Rs1 lakh crore on day 1 of listing. Banks were the weak spot lead by weakness in IndusInd, HDFC & SBI. Open / Comment
