The Sea Beast
Revelation 13:1-10

In chapter 13 (verses 1-10) describes a beast coming up out of the sea, “like unto a leopard,” to which the dragon gave “his power, and his seat, and great authority.” This symbol, as most Protestants have believed, represents the papacy, which succeeded to the power and seat and authority once held by the ancient Roman empire.
“Power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.” And, says the prophet, “I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death.” “He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword.” The forty and two months are the same as the “time and times and the dividing of time,” three and a half years, or 1260 days, of Daniel 7 - the time during which the papal power was to oppress God’s people. This period began with the supremacy of the papacy, A.D. 538, and terminated in 1798. At that time the pope was made captive by the French army, the papal power received its deadly wound, and the prediction was fulfilled, “He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity.”
What have you done with the power that God has given you? We all have some kind of power. Power does not always have to be in the form of strength and might, it can be in gentle touch, a soft tone of voice, or in your influence. Use your God given power for good and not evil.

2021-01-28 17:00:18 Tell-the-Truth Thursday

We are The Lord's Agents and need to profess and tell the truth to a
dying world.

Jeremiah 5:14 says, ‘Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them’.

We live in a world where ‘fake news’ is rampant. Richard Salant, (1914-1993), former President of CBS News once said “Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have.” Men and women are wandering in the mist and fog of error. They want to know what is truth. As Christians we need to speak truth to the world. Tell them, not in high-flown language, but with the simplicity of the children of God.— May your prayer be just as Jesus prayed in John 17:17 “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”

Wellness Wednesday
The desire of God for every human being is expressed in the words, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” God is the one who “forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with loving-kindness and tender mercies.” 3 John 2. Psalms 103:3, 4

Thankful Tuesday

1 Thessalonians 5:18 :-
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

This command above is an assurance that even the things which appear to be against us will work out for our good. God would not bid us be thankful for that which would do us harm.

Symbols in Prophecy
Revelation 13
The difference between a symbol and a sign is that a symbol can convey a deeper and more complex meaning than a sign. A sign is an indicator or marker for something very specific, very concrete and, in general, unambiguous in meaning. Road markers are called signs because they usually convey something specific - the speed limit, "Stop", or a street name. There is nothing open to interpretation with these signs. On the other hand, a symbol is a form of a sign that may have a deeper meaning. It can be interpreted in different ways since its meaning may not be universally shared by different people. Whether it’s a cross, a dove, or a ring, it can have a complex meaning and nuance that differs from one person to another depending on their experience, culture, or upbringing.
The book of Revelation is full of symbols. And one might ask why cloak bible prophecies in symbols? In Luke 8:10 Jesus said, “To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given in parables, that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.”
Many of the apocalyptic prophecies were given while the prophets were in a hostile foreign land. One reason God cloaked the prophecies in symbols was to protect the messages. To properly understand the book of Revelation you must know the proper meaning of each symbol. If you do not appropriately decode the meaning of each symbol, you will be led to an incorrect meaning of what the chapter is talking about.
When you see the word:
*Dragon = Satan or his agency (Isaiah 27:1; 30:6; Psalm 74:13, 14;
Revelation 12:7-9; Ezekiel 29:3; Jeremiah 51:34)
*Beast = Kingdom / Government / Political Power (Daniel 7:17, 23)
*Lamb = Jesus / Sacrifice (John 1:29; 1 Corinthians 5:7)
*Lion = Jesus / Powerful king i.e., Babylon (Revelation 5:4-9; Jeremiah 50:43, 44; Daniel 7:4, 17, 23)
*Bear = Destructive power / Medo-Persia (Proverbs 28:15; 2 Kings 2:23, 24; Daniel 7:5)
*Leopard = Greece (Daniel 7:6)
*Serpent = Satan (Revelation 12:9; 20:2)
*Mark = Sign or seal of approval or disapproval (Ezekiel 9:4; Romans 4:11; Revelation 13:17; 14:9-11; 7:2, 3)
*Forehead = Mind (Deuteronomy 6:6-8; Romans 7:25; Ezekiel 3:8, 9)
Revelation thirteen is a chapter of particular importance to our specific time. And if you consider yourself a Christian today you must realize that you are in a hostile and foreign land. But fear not, because God has a message for you in the apocalyptic prophecies found in Revelation. Now that you can accurately decode the symbols found in Revelation thirteen, read it with this new understanding and see what you did not see before. See what God is specifically revealing to you in these symbols of this prophecy.
