The 2021st year is approaching its end. It's the time to have a look at the features which were introduced this year.

Current year brought many features, but not all of them are favored by users. Some of them were not as successful as it was promised: for example, Telegram promised video chats to be actually unlimited, while in reality the stream becomes unstable at about 2000 users.

The Telegram team keeps adding new features to the app, for instance, the Beta-versions of the Telegram apps already have reactions and other improvements.

Some attentive users of Telegram Beta have found that in some groups and channels reactions to messages has disappeared.

It happened because of changes in the reactions system: they became disabled by default in groups and channels. In PMs, the logic of reactions remains the same, so you can react to any message as you did before.

— Reaction on messages
Users can leave one of the 11 available reactions. You can also get quick reactions by double-clicking on a message.

— Formatting text to hide information
Spoilers allows you to hide the text under the noise animation. Clicking allows you to see the hidden information.

— Message Translator
Thanks to the new iOS 15 feature, you can translate any highlighted text.

— Updated QR Codes
Anyone can generate QR codes for public and private links of groups and channels.

— Snow in Telegram
To enable it, you need to make 7-10 clicks on the gear, and turn on the "Snow" item.

Statistics can have only a single link, but manager can revoke it anytime.

Telegram for Android, iOS, macOS and Unigram has been updated to version 8.3, Telegram Desktop — to version 3.3.

Protected Content in Groups and Channels
• Group and Channel owners can restrict message forwarding from their chat, which also prevents screenshots and limits the ability to save media from posts.
• To change users' ability to forward messages open the Group or Channel Info page > Group / Channel Type > Restrict Saving Content.

Anonymous Posting in Public Groups
• Tap the profile picture next to the message bar and choose one of your channels – the messages you send after that will appear with the name and photo of the channel instead of your personal account.
• When posting as your channel, you’ll also see the channel name at the top of your message bubbles.

Delete Messages by Date
• Clear chat history from a specific day or date range in any one-on-one chat.
• To open the calendar, tap the date bar that pops up as you scroll through the chat – then choose which days to clear.
• Clearing history by date currently only works in one-on-one chats, but messages in any chat can be set to auto-delete one day, week, or month after sending.

Manage Connected Devices
• The "Devices" section has received a visually updated menu of active sessions with animated icons.
• You can choose after which period of inactivity to automatically terminate sessions on older devices.
• By clicking on the device list, you can set whether it is allowed to receive calls and new secret chats.
• For the current session, you can now set your own name for convenience.
• The new "Link Desktop Device" button will allow you to quickly connect to the computer or web version of Telegram.

Responses to Join Requests
• When you request to join a group or channel and its admin responds with a message, you will see which community they are from at the top of the chat.
• Bot admins can contact users requesting to join a chat where they are an admin — even if the user didn't communicate with the bot before.

Other updates:
• Global color themes in the "Chat Settings" section, distributed to the entire Telegram application.
• Recognition of English text in photos and the ability to copy it (iOS 13+).
• Selection of a file manager for attachments (Android version from the site).
• Formatting text in media captions on iOS (previously released on Android).
• Updated profile design (iOS 15).
• Playlist playback in reverse order and mixed (Desktop).
• Updated animations during authorization (Android).
