In 1989, Ray Oldenburg, an urban sociologist, coined the phrase “third place” in his book The Great Good Place.

In it, he explores the importance of cafés (not to mention pubs, piazzas, beer gardens and teahouses) as gathering places essential to our individual mental health and that of society as a whole.

The third place (or third space) is the social surroundings separate from the two usual social environments of home ("first place") and the workplace ("second place").

There is no consensus on this, but there are multiple theories,

e.g.:
Women were dressed by servants who tended to be right handed, while men tended to dress themselves.

"Buttons were expensive items, and buttoned outfits for women had elaborate button designs.

These luxurious outfits were afforded by wealthy women who often had servants help them button up or unbutton these elaborate outfits.

Later those who were less well off wanted to copy the style of wealthy women who had servants.

Men held swords in their right hands and thus it was more convenient and quicker to use their left hand for unbuttoning, while women tended to hold babies in their left hand and could more easily use their right hand for unbuttoning their shirt to allow their baby to suckle. (There are more theories about it)

Some other reasons are :

1.Mona Lisa might have been the first painting to use the technique of chiaroscuro.

2. Mona Lisa, if studied according to the laws of Scared geometry , is the prefect representation of a body whose dimensions and measurements compliment the fundamental laws of the universe. ( So does the sketch of the Vitruvian man, also the work of Da Vinci.)

The earthy fragrance was named 'Petrichor' by Australian researchers in 1964. They described it as a combination of plant oils and the chemical compound geosmin which are released from the soil when it rains.

A rhesus monkey called Albert 1 became the first monkey launched into space on June 11, 1948; also on board a US-launched V2 rocket.

These were just suborbital flights, though.

The first animal to actually go into orbit was the dog Laika, launched on board the Soviet Sputnik 2 spacecraft on November 3, 1957.
