7.Sanjay Gandhi National Park

-It is a protected area near Mumbai in Maharashtra.

-It was formerly known as Borivali National Park.

-It is part of Western Ghats biodiversity and forms roughly 20.5% of Mumbai’sgeographical area.

-Kanheri Caves, 2000 year old complex of some 160 rock-cut caves (was important Buddhist learning centre) is situated within national park and is protected archaeological site.

6.Khangchendzonga National Park

-Located in Sikkim (Covers its 25% area)

-Park includes a unique diversity of plains, valleys, lakes, glaciers and spectacular snowcapped mountains covered with ancient forests.

- The park combines the religious and cultural practices of Buddhism as well as the ecological significance of the region.

-It houses the world's 3rd highest peak Mt Khangchendzonga

-It is included in UNESCO's ’mixed’ heritage site category of the list i.e. it exhibits qualities of both natural and cultural significance.

5.Gorumara National Park.

-West Bengal.

-This region has rolling forests and riverine grasslands, and is known as the Dooars in West Bengal.

-The park is located on the flood plains of the Murti River and Raidak River.

-The major river of the park is the Jaldhaka river, a tributary of the Brahmaputra river system.

-Indian rhinoceros, gaur, Asian elephant, sloth bear, chital, and sambar deer.

4.Jim Corbett National Park

- It was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park-the first national park in India.

-It is located in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. The Corbett national park has highest tiger count from single reserve in the recent Tiger census(carried once in 4 years)

-The park was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1973-the first to come under the Project Tiger initiative.

3.Rajaji National Park

-It is a national park and tiger reserve in Uttarakhand

-The park extends over the Shivalik Range in north-west to the Rawasan River in the southeast with the Ganges dividing it into two parts.

-The western part of the Park consists of the Ramgarh, Kansrao, Motichur, Hardwar, Dholkhand and Chillawali Ranges.

The last tiger reserve was notified six years ago in Arunachal Pradesh, Kamlang

Srivilluputhur, hosts leopards, Nilgiri tahrs, lion tailed macaques, jungle cats and sambars.

the eastern part of Srivilliputhur falls in the rain shadow zone of the Western Ghats (it receives poor rainfall)

Largest Tiger Reserve: Nagarjunsagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve located in Andhra Pradesh is the largest tiger reserve in India.

Tiger Reserve with the Highest Tiger counts: Corbett Tiger Reserve in Uttarakhand has the highest number of tigers. And then comes the Nagarhole tiger reserve(Karnataka) and the Bandipur Tiger Reserve(Karnataka).
