2023-05-17 18:43:04 For speedy roll-out of the telecom network, TRAI has recommended that the requirement of additional Standing Advisory Committee on Radio Frequency Allocation (SACFA) clearance for the same mobile network site or tower location should be replaced with intimation only on the SaralSanchar portal.

The regulator has suggested that telecom operators should be allowed to reinstall/deploy their wireless equipment to another circle or location after providing prior intimation to WPC (Wireless Planning Commission).

To expedite approvals for satellite services, the regulator has recommended that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and DoT portals should be end-to-end integrated with the Department of Space (DOS) and fully functional for all services requiring a space segment.

2023-05-17 18:43:02 In its recommendation on “Ease of Doing Business in Telecom and Broadcasting Sector”, TRAI recommended that the DoT should review and simplify the existing security conditions prescribed in the telecom licence agreement regarding maintaining command logs and supply chain documents.

Among various measures to enhance ease of doing business, TRAI has recommended that the government should incorporate a website blocking process on a single window portal and the internet service providers only should receive the list of websites to be blocked from the portal in their secure login via an instant notification.

The list of websites to be blocked should be communicated to the ISPs in their secure login via an instant notification.

The provision for compliance submission by the ISPs should also be on the portal itself.

The regulator has suggested that the process of surrender of licence, issuance of No Objection Certificate (NOC) and release of bank guarantees to the service providers should be made simple, online and time-bound.

TRAI released recommendations on ‘Ease of Doing Business in Telecom and Broadcasting Sector’.

Details :

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released recommendations on ‘ease of doing business in the telecom and broadcasting sector’.

GoI is striving to improve the business environment at every stage across all sectors.

These recommendations were made after TRAI floated a consultation paper on ‘Ease of Doing Business in Telecom and Broadcasting Sector’ in December 2021.

TRAI proposes to establish a Standing Committee with a focus on Ease of Doing Business (EoDB).

The recommendations strive to create a process-based approach to EoDB.

TRAI has recommended that a user-friendly, transparent and responsive digital single window system-based portal should be established.

The portal should be enabled with new digital technologies for achieving end-to-end interdepartmental online processes.

India signs new Work Plan on Quality Infrastructure with Germany during Indo-German Working Group meeting in Berlin

Details :

The Department of Consumer Affairs and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action signed the new Work Plan for 2023 during the 9th Annual Meeting of the Indo-German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure.

The plan was signed in Berlin, Germany.

The Work Plan 2023 is structured along the key elements of QI, including standardisation, accreditation, conformity assessment, legal metrology, product safety and market surveillance.

The work plan addressed topics like harmonised global solutions as well as sector-specific cooperation topics, such as digitalisation (Industry 4.0, Artificial Intelligence, cyber security), circular economy, smart farming and machinery safety.

An MoU was signed between the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MoSJE) and Art of Living to make NMBA more effective and widespread.

Details :

The MoU signed between the MoSJE and Art of Living will help in spreading the message of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) among the youth, women and students, and NMBA will get a boost towards achieving a drug-sensitised India.

To curb the menace of drug demand, MoSJE is implementing the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR).

The focal points of the NMBA are preventive, mass education and sensitization, capacity building of service providers, positive partnership with educational institutions, and augmentation of treatment, rehabilitation and counselling facilities.

NMBA was launched on 15th August 2020

Around 8000 Master volunteers have been selected and trained to lead the campaign in the 372 identified districts of the country.

2023-05-17 10:13:21 India – U.K “Net-Zero” Innovation Virtual Centre

India and the United Kingdom will jointly create India-UK “NET Zero” Innovation Virtual Centre.

Details :

India and the U.K. will jointly create the India-UK ‘Net Zero’ Innovation Virtual Centre which will provide a platform to bring stakeholders from both countries together to work in some of the focus areas including industrial decarbonisation and Green Hydrogen in sync with their respective net zero goals to reach the Paris Agreement climate change collective targets to limit the global warming to acceptable levels.

This was announced by Dr Jitendra Singh while chairing the India-U.K Science and Innovation Council (SIC) meeting in the presence of his British counterpart, UK Minister George Freeman.

The two leaders called for enhanced cooperation in the field of Science & Technology.

The wide range of issues discussed by the two ministers included the UK-India “Roadmap 2030”.

‘Roadmap 2030’ provides a framework for UK-India relations across health, climate, trade, education, science and technology, and defence.

The India-UK Science & Technology (S&T) collaboration has been growing at a rapid pace and the joint research programme has gone from an almost zero base to close to £300-400 million now.

Dr Jitendra Singh is leading a high-level official Indian delegation of the Ministry of Science & Technology on a 6-day visit to the UK.
