The first meeting of the India-Hungary Joint Working Group on Water Management was held in New Delhi.

Details :

During the meeting of the India-Hungary Joint Working Group, a wide range of discussions were held on challenges and initiatives taken by both countries in the field of water management.

A three-year working programme was signed to guide the future course of India-Hungary cooperation in water management.

On 16th October 2016, an MoU was signed between the Ministry of Interior Hungary and the then Ministry of Water Resources (Now, Ministry of Jal Shakti), with an aim to strengthen the technological, scientific and management capabilities of both countries in the field of water management.

A Joint Working Group has been constituted for the implementation of the objectives of the MoU

TRAI released Consultation Paper on the Definition of International Traffic

Details :

The telecom regulator TRAI floated a consultation paper to define international traffic.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) requested the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to provide its recommendations on the definition of international SMS and domestic SMS.

The Authority noted that the term ‘international traffic’ has not been defined in the Unified License and that ‘international SMS’ is a type of ‘international traffic’.

Therefore, the Authority is of the view that instead of defining international SMS in the Unified Licence Agreement, it would be appropriate to define the term ‘international traffic’, instead.

India-U.K joint military exercise ‘Ajeya Warrior’ will commence at Salisbury Plains, United Kingdom (27th April – 11 May 2023).

Details :

Exercise Ajeya Warrior is a biennial training exercise conducted alternatively in India and the United Kingdom.

Its 6th edition was held at Chaubatia, Uttarakhand in 2021.

Ex. Ajeya Warrior, 2023 will be conducted at Salisbury Plains, United Kingdom.

Indian Army Soldiers from the Bihar Regiment and the Soldiers of the 2 Royal Gorkha Rifles from the U.K are participating in the exercise.

The aim of the exercise is to build positive military relations, imbibe each other’s best practices and have the ability to operate together while undertaking company-level sub-conventional operations in urban and semi-urban environments under UN mandate.

2023-05-19 19:08:59 Indian Defence Minister’s Visit to Maldives

The Defence Minister’s three-day visit to the Maldives to strengthen the partnership between India and the Maldives.

Details :

The Indian Defence Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh visited Maldives at the invitation of his Maldivian Counterpart Defence Minister Ms Mariya Didi.

A wide range of regional and global security issues of mutual concern were discussed during the meeting and both leaders agreed to deepen their cooperation in the defence and security domains.

The Defence Minister also met with Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohmed Solih and discussed the progress of various developmental projects undertaken by India in Maldives.

Shri Rajnath Singh handed over a Fast Patrol Vessel and a Landing Craft Assault ship to the Maldives National Defence Forces (MNDF).

The Fast Patrol Vessel, capable of coastal and offshore surveillance at high speeds, was commissioned as the MNDF Coast Guard ship Huravee.

The handing over of the two ‘Made in India’ platforms is a symbol of the shared commitment of both nations and their objectives towards peace and security in the IOR (Indian Ocean Region).

The visit saw the laying of the foundation stone for the MNDF Coast Guard ‘Ekatha Harbour’ by Shri Rajnath Singh and Minister Didi.

The development of the Coastguard Harbour and repair facility at Sifavaru is one of the biggest grant-in-aid projects by India.

Both the ministers agreed to explore new avenues for cooperation, including in the areas of defence trade, capacity building and joint exercises.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the relationship between them.
