-Aram Sargsyan: “The U.S. approved the sale of those systems, and during one of my previous interviews I’ve mentioned that such approval has already been given.

Later, some political forces began to manipulate this topic by blaming the current government for not accepting the American Air Defense Systems, without analyzing why did that deal fail.

The deal failed because there was a time constraint. By the time those systems would get delivered to Armenia, the war would have ended.

-the interviewer: “Was this offered during the war?

-Aram Sargsyan: “Yes, during the war, the Armenian Government approached the U.S. to provide such Air Defense Systems, and to our surprise they said ‘Yes’.

We started the negotiation process after their approval, however we were short on time.

I personally think we should not leave that process unfinished.”

On April 2, CIS Foreign Ministers’ Council held meeting in Moscow with the participation of Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan.

Ayvazyan drew the participants' attention to the humanitarian situation in Artsakh in connection with the 44-day Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression with the participation of foreign terrorists.

In this context, the numerous war crimes committed by Azerbaijan during the hostilities were presented in detail.

Minister Ayvazyan mentioned the trilateral statement of November 9, which emphasizes the need for the immediate return of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians taken prisoner by Azerbaijan.

Let us remind you, that Putin personally guaranteed the Nov. 9 statement, however 143 days have passed and our compatriots are still held in illegal captivity.

The funds will be directed to the construction of a new pavilion for the Public Television of Armenia, and the implementation of other joint programs within the framework of the “Agreement on Technical and Economic Cooperation”.
