Ukraine may make gains here and in a few other areas, very hard-fought and ultimately temporarily as Russia finally corrects the undermanning of forces in these areas that made this possible in the first place.

If you followed US opposition to Nord Stream 2 over the years, you could feel the palpable desperation of US desires to stop it, physically destroying it being a real possibility if all else failed.

We were told by the Pentagon that "16" was the right number for Ukraine.

The US is now sending 18 more and I will tell you why.

Ukraine has lost the vast majority of the HIMARS they recieved. 18 are being sent instead of 16 specifically because they will disappear off the battlefield just as quickly as the first 16.

Addionally: Western media reports that it will take "a few years" for the new HIMARS to arrive.

Is the Western media deliberately conflating the two?

Mobilization of reserves involves men who previously served in the military, have already been trained, and are being called back up, knowing full well this could happen based on the terms of their initial enlistment just like in the West.

Recall the US did this in 2006. Via the Guardian:

"The US marine corps has been forced to call up its reserves for compulsory service in Iraq and Afghanistan because it has not been able to find enough volunteers - a reflection of the strain the two wars are putting on America's armed forces.

The marines' involuntary call-up, seen as a "back-door draft" by Pentagon critics, is the first since the start of the Iraq war, and will begin in a few months when a first batch of up to 2,500 reservists will be summoned back to active service for a year or more. The army has already sent 2,200 reservists back to the front, of which only about 350 went voluntarily.

A draft involves calling up men who never served, have no training, and must be trained before being sent to serve - hence why some in the West claim these troops won't be ready for "months."

Mobilized reservists will be ready in 1-2 weeks, whether the West wants to accept this reality or not. They could be on the battlefield in less than a month's time. Open / Comment

After announcing his intention to activate the Starlink satellite network to restore internet to Iran following Tehran’s move to cut off connectivity amidst protests, Elon Musk’s web service is reportedly now active - but requires terminals on the ground.

Global think tank professor Karim Sadjapour tweeted Sunday he had received confirmation from Musk of Starlink’s activation, but he believes it will cost “many millions” of dollars to set up and sustain the web service, and doesn’t expect the government to green-light the import of terminals.

Iran has seen days of protests after the alleged killing of a women in morality police custody. Authorities deny those accusations.
