These days the OSCE Academy is conducting Preparatory Summer School, where more than 50 student besides other things learn Academic Skills. Sharing with you some interesting ideas How to go through this process properly.

1) Think carefully about your topic, subject, or question and understand what is required in the essay

2) Make notes of your ideas (from your experience and knowledge) about your topic

3) Conduct library research of books, journals, and articles dealing with your topic. Read the books, chapters, articles, etc. by asking yourself appropriate questions that are related to the essay topic or title

4) Write clear notes from your reading to keep a record of your sources. Acknowledge accurately any quotations: author’s surname and initials, year of publication, edition, publisher, place of publication, and page numbers of quotations

5) Look through your notes to obtain an overview of the subject. Decide on the content of your essay and how you want to organize it, in other words, plan it

6) Write an outline of the essay, making use of headings or subheadings, if they are appropriate

7)Write the first draft following your outline (be flexible with your outline, however)

8) Read the draft critically, in particular checking content, organization, and connection between the ideas

9) Revise your draft

10) Check your draft paying attention to the language (grammar, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation)

11) Write the final draft

12) Check that your references are in a strict alphabetical order. Compile your bibliography using the conventional format. Add the bibliography to the end of your essay
