Have you ever wondered what being a cheerleader is like ?

"When I think of fun times in the U.S., cheerleading always pops first in my head

I remember my host sister, Madison, offered me to to join cheer team , so I could dive into "typical teenage life", make more friends, and enjoy football/basketball games And guess what? She was right

I had an opportunity to learn new skills, to overcome my fears, to be more confident, and to become determined

The best part about cheerleading was memorizing all cheers, stunting, since I was a flyer, and going to cheer competitions , which means we also traveled to different parts of the state and were sociable with people

Overall, I loved being a part of a unique team, supporting our school, performing, and learning something I've never experienced before "

2021-06-15 19:07:48 On June 14, the closing ceremony for Spring 2021 cohort of FLEX Exchanges to Internships was held in Bishkek. For 3 months this spring, the interns worked for civic society organizations and took part in different professional development sessions to build their soft skills. During the ceremony, the interns shared their overall internship achievements and social community projects highlights.
The event was attended by the representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyz Republic, representatives of civic society organizations and professional development trainers from Authentic Life.

On May 31, Eleonora Kyrbieva FLEX’17 organized a training session for children in Karakol orphanage IRADA. The participants learned about social entrepreneurship and worked on their own social business ideas.

2021-06-08 15:13:21 In April, FLEX ETOI program participants Kairat Salamatov, FLEX’18 and Ainazik Mamadalieva, FLEX’17 implemented “Я-лидер будущего поколения” project. The project provided leadership training for students from small schools, based in rural areas of Ak-Uchuk and Kara-Kul. The participants learned about community involvement and were asked to implement small projects in their communities. The participants in Kara-Kul organized a cleanup event, a debate tournament and a fundraising event by collecting paper for recycling.

To address the issue of ethnic segregation and gender inequality, the project offered interactive training on tolerance and human rights.

2021-06-08 15:11:53 On April 16-17, FLEX ETOI program participants Aziza Zhoroeva, FLEX ’17 and Mariam Sulaimanova, FLEX ’17 organized online training “Бороться, нельзя страдать” for 50 school children from Novopavlovka school. The participants learned about the cyber bullying and what actions they need to take if they face it. The training and interactive sessions were led by a psychologist, a lawyer, a social worker, and trained mentors.

2021-06-08 15:11:10 In April, FLEX ETOI program participant Tolgonai Tursunbekova, FLEX ’18 organized a three-day online training for 20 women. The participants learned basic entrepreneurship skills including the skills in how to start a business from scratch and how to manage finances. The participants had an opportunity to develop their business ideas, discuss them with a trainer and receive advice on how to realize their ideas. At the end of the training, there were many positive feedbacks from the participants. Some participants mentioned that they feel ready to start a business now.

2021-06-08 15:10:46 On April 23 and April 27, FLEX ETOI program participant Aiperi Daiyrbekova, FLEX ’17 implemented the “Life in Art” project. The project aimed to integrate children with disability into mainstream activities. Trained by a psychologist, volunteers who are secondary school students, spent two days with children with down syndrome. The first day was dedicated to art-therapy, where children painted and played with volunteers. The second day was spent on the eco-farm, where children planted seeds and made crafts from modeling clay.
As a result of the project, the volunteers were able to see the inner world of the “special children” and understand their uniqueness. The interactive activities and fresh air on the eco-farm improved the emotional and psychological state of the project participants.
