Beta versions of Telegram for Android and Telegram Desktop got an option to send messages in chats on behalf of a channel.

This feature is expected to work:

• In public chats.
• In chats that are linked to channels (comments).
• In chats that are linked to location (geochats).

To use the feature, two conditions must be met simultaneously:
1) You are the administrator in the chat you are leaving your comment in.
2) You are the owner of the channel on behalf of which you are writing.

In Beta version of Telegram Desktop 3.2.6 you can now restrict saving media in your private chats and groups.

Restrictions include:
— Restriction to copy text.
— Restriction to forward messages.
— Restriction to save files.

Unlike the mobile apps, you can screenshot and record restricted channels in Telegram Desktop.

These restrictions are also applied to channel owners.

Beta version of Telegram Desktop 3.2.6 got an option to rename the current session, which replaces the automatically detected name. When you erase your custom name, the default name gets set back.

Also, by clicking a session, extended information card expands.

At the end of the list you can set a period after which inactive devices will be logged out: it can be either 1 week, 1, 3, or 6 months.

Beta version of Telegram for Android got an option to restrict saving content of a private channel or group.

Restrictions include:
— Restriction to select and copy text.
— Restriction to forward messages.
— Restriction to download media attachments.
— Channel and group content isn't visible on screenshots and screen records.

These restrictions are also applied to channel creators (but this might change later).

2021-11-27 23:01:23 Messages Calendar and Date Range Deletion

Beta version of Telegram for Android got a new messages calendar, which can be opened by tapping date in messaging history.

This calendar shouldn't be confused with the one already available in Attachments tab: the new calendar lets you to jump and preview a date by holding it. Also, you can select multiple days to delete all the messages in the range. Range deletion is available in private chats only.
