Muhyiddin Yassin has resigned as Msia's 8th PM. The King has ruled that Muhyiddin will remain as "caretaker" PM until a new PM is appointed.

Muhyiddin clarified that his former cabinet will not be retained as a caretaker cabinet. “It’s a one-man show,” he says.

IGP Acryl Sani assured that Msia's security is in order. He asked the public to remain calm, saying that the police would ensure national security is maintained.

UMNO Youth Chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has urged the formation of a "wartime" unity govt, akin to Winston Churchill’s in World War 2. He suggested it be capped at 15 ministers to fully address COVID-19, before calling for elections.

The ringgit traded at 4.2410 per dollar today, its lowest since July 2020, amid the collapse of the PN administration.

IGP Acryl Sani has instructed all leave requests for PDRM officers to be frozen indefinitely, via a circular. The move is "to ensure all officers...are in a state of readiness & can be mobilised at any time".

Msia will give COVID-19 jabs to those aged 12 to 17. MOSTI Minister Khairy Jamaluddin says older children & those with health conditions will be prioritised. More details will be announced next week.

FT Minister Annuar Musa wants to form a committee to oversee the recovery of the FTs, to comprise MPs, NGOs and corporate figures. This comes as 80% of KL's adults are set to be fully inoculated by this weekend.

The economy grew by 16.1% in Q2 2021, as a low base was recorded in Q2 2020 when Msia entered MCO 1.0. Compared to Q1 2021 however, the economy contracted by 2%.

PM Muhyiddin Yassin plans to bring forward a confidence vote that could be held next week. The Malaysian Insight quoted a source, reporting there are plans to do so in a special Parliament sitting on Aug 8.

This follows a Malaysiakini report that the King reportedly told the PM to bring forward the Dewan Rakyat sitting scheduled for Sep 6.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Azhar Harun has denied informing the PM he has lost majority support. A WhatsApp message had claimed that Azhar sent a letter to Muhyiddin saying 121 MPs oppose him.

Nearly 69% of adults have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while nearly 40% have received two.

As of Sunday, Sarawak has not recorded any COVID-19 deaths from infected individuals 2 weeks after they were fully vaccinated.
