Sources close to Solskjær expect him to remain in charge for the trip to Tottenham but he has been given no guarantees beyond that. His coaching team is also under scrutiny, there was no appetite to remove him and install one of his backroom team on an interim basis.

Antonio Conte has let it be known he'd be open to taking charge of #mufc. Zinedine Zidane is another name mentioned and Mauricio Pochettino is said to still admire #mufc. If Solskjær stays for longer, Graham Potter could come under consideration.

The sense that Solskjær is not the man to lead #mufc on has taken hold for a section of his squad over the past month. They admire his manner, commitment, and public protection but doubts are growing about his sophistication - some would be open to a change.
