2022-02-05 18:53:12 IDF troops thwarted a drug smuggling attempt worth 4,000,000 NIS along the Egyptian border

Overnight, IDF observation troops spotted a number of suspects attempting to smuggle drugs from Egypt into Israeli territory.

IDF troops operating to thwart the smuggling attempt confiscated approximately 200 kilograms of drugs worth 4,000,000 NIS that were transferred to the Israeli Police for further processing.

This action is part of the ongoing effort by the IDF and the security forces to thwart drug smuggling attemps on the Egyptian border.

The Chief of the General Staff, LTG Aviv Kohavi visited today (Tuesday) an officers course for company and battalion commanders in the Ground Forces. During his visit, he held a session with the officers that are due to complete the course this Thursday.

2022-01-31 20:58:48 IDF: Overnight, IDF, Israeli Border Police and Israel Police troops operated to thwart terrorist infrastructure in the Jordan Valley area

Hundreds of IDF, Israeli Border Police and Israel Police troops operated last night (Sunday) in the Jordan Valley area, as part of an operation to thwart terrorist activity and confiscate weapon infrastructure in the area.

The troops apprehended nine suspects who were transferred to the Israeli Border Police for questioning. In addition, 16 illegal vehicles, a handgun, and stolen military ammunition and equipment were confiscated.

During the troops’ activities, violent riots were instigated in a number of locations, during which dozens of Palestinians hurled rocks and an IED at IDF troops. The troops responded with riot dispersal means to restore order.

The operation is part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts to thwart terrorism in the area, which wounds and kills innocent people.
