Forget or leave

Agar biror narsani olib kelishni unutganimizda "forget" fe'lini ishlatamiz:

I’ll have to go back; I’ve forgotten my car keys.

Men uyga borib kelishimga to'g'ri keladi; mashinamni kalitlarini unutibman.

Biz "leave" fe'lini ham shu ma'noda ishlatamiz lekin bunda qoldirib ketgan narsaning joyini ham aytib o'tish kerak bo'ladi:

Jamshid, you’re always leaving your car keys on your desk.

Jamshid sen nuqul mashinangni kalitlarini stolingda qoldirib ketasan.

Not: forgetting your car keys on your desk.

or

Not: You’re always leaving your car keys.

Jamshid left his homework at home.

Jamshid uy vazifasini uyda qoldiribdi.

Not: Jamshid forgot his homework at home.

Biz shuningdek "leave" fe'lini biror narsani ataylab qoldirgan holatga ham ishlatamiz:

As it was raining, we decided to leave the dog at home.

Yomg'ir yog'ayotgani sababli, biz kuchukni uyda qoldirishga qaror qildik.

"To know" fe'li orqali biz biror kim yoki biror narsa haqida ma'lumotga ega bo'lamiz:

I've known Shakhnoza for 5 months.

Men Shahnozani 5 oydan beri bilaman.


"To get to know" iborasi orqali esa biz biron narsa yoki biror kim bilan tanishish oralig'ini inobatga olamiz:

I met Jamshid on his first day at work. We got to know each other when we worked on a project together.

Men Jamshidni uning birinchi ish kunida uchratganman. Biz bir loyiha ustida birga ishlaganimizda tanishganmiz.

It takes a few days to know new people.

Yuqoridagi gap xatoligi shundaki biz avval yangi odamlar bilan bilan tanishamiz, keyin esa ularni bilib olamiz.

It takes a few days to get to know new people.
