Dinosaur tracks from around 113 million years ago have just been revealed at Dinosaur Valley State Park in Texas due to drought conditions in the Paluxy River.

"Due to the excessive drought conditions this past summer, the river dried up completely in most locations, allowing for more tracks to be uncovered here in the park," explains Stephanie Salinas Garcia from the park's press office.

"Under normal river conditions, these newer tracks are underwater and are commonly filled in with sediment, making them buried and not as visible," Garcia said.

With 71 percent of the Earth covered with water, or around 326 quintillion gallons (round to 1234 quintillion liters), it's easy to assume that there's ample water to sustain human needs. However, most of Earth's water is salty, or in other words, saline, which does not have much use when it comes to what we drink, bathe in or use to grow food. Those uses require freshwater— and it turns out that this is actually relatively scarce stuff. Making up under three percent of Earth's water and largely tucked away in glaciers, you can see where this is going, especially in a warmer, drier future.

In the more commonly-accepted hypothesis, the universe started from a singularity, a point of infinite density and gravity, inflating rapidly as a result of the Big Bang, and kept expanding until reaching the shape we find ourselves in today, about 13.8 billion years later. In another view, the Big Bang is just one of an endless cycle of expansion and contraction, ending with a “Big Crunch” and restarting with a Big Bang. A new study offers a caveat that challenges the cyclic universe theory, proposing that even the so-called “bouncing” universes must have a beginning.

Solar shock waves have "knocked out" International Telecommunications Satellite Organization’s (Intelsat) transmission services.

Intelsat is working to restore control of the Galaxy 15 broadcast satellite, after a malfunction on August 19.

In 2010, the firm was unable to communicate with the satellite for more than eight months. It started responding to commands from Intelsat's control center after its batteries had depleted and forced a reset.

Sydney-based firm Silicon Quantum Computing (SQC) built the first integrated silicon quantum computer circuit manufactured at the atomic scale, in what has been touted as a "major breakthrough" on the road to quantum supremacy, a press statement reveals.

The atomic-scale integrated circuit, which functions as an analog quantum processor, may be SQC's biggest milestone since it announced in 2012 that it had built the world's first single-atom transistor.

Seattle-based Zap Energy is using a lesser-known approach to nuclear fusion to build modular, garage-sized reactors.

They are cheaper and don't require the large, incredibly powerful magnets used in traditional fusion experiments. Ultimately, they may also provide a quicker route to achieving commercially viable nuclear fusion, a press statement reveals.

The plans to launch Global Dream II, one of the world's largest cruise ships, have been scrapped after its builders filed for bankruptcy earlier this year. The hull of the ship will make its maiden voyage to the scrapyard, The Guardian reported.

A cruise ship is a world within itself, and while passengers enjoy all life's luxuries on these massive feats of engineering, construction is a process that goes on for years. During this period, priorities can change, or the world can be caught up in a big economic downturn that even forces the abandonment of Titanic's bigger sister.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has called the car manufacturer's new factories in Berlin and Austin 'gigantic money furnaces' that are losing billions of dollars, while the production stays down, Bloomberg reported.

As the Tesla brand has grown in popularity, the company has worked to establish more factories to increase its production capacity and also ease the distribution of its cars in its biggest markets. Giga Berlin has been in the works since 2019, and the factory began production earlier this year with an estimated capacity to build 500,000 cars annually, in the future.

Sunspot AR3038, which went from 'big to enormous in 24 hours', has now grown further and is three times bigger than the Earth, Space.com reported. Astronomers are keen to see what sort of solar flare this sunspot will end up emitting, which has strayed away from predictions.

The exact cause of sunspots is unknown, but astronomers believe that electromagnetic flux concentration on the solar surface can cause a temporary disturbance to the convection processes. The result is a drop in temperature which makes the region relatively darker than its surroundings and is referred to as a sunspot.
