In January 2022, thousands of children in Tanzania will start their first day at secondary school. But unfortunately, many will not, because they cannot afford school uniform and school supplies.

Kijana Kwanza in Moshi, Tanzania is launching its Back to School Appeal to provide children with uniform and a ruck sack of essential books and stationery. Each Back to School Pack costs £65/$90 and includes 2 pairs of school uniform, a ruck sack, 12 excercise books, a dictionary, maths set, pens and pencils.

The audience is entertained by the town crier (Erick) who confuses his public announcements and a dopey sentinel (Lukumani), who regularly falls asleep on the job. Through storytelling and creative expression, our young people acquire the confidence to explore social and cultural attitudes in society, as well as make sense of their own traumatic stories of abandonment, abuse and rejection.
