2022-06-26 17:25:04 Updated Drivers to version 2206.86

- Bug Fixes

_____________________________

NEW: We now have TWO update channels for drivers.

- The Experimental update channel contains work in progress, unstable/rough functionality. This update channel contains all the features you're used to from previous releases, but might have thermal issues, performance issues, or be very unstable.

- The Stable update channel contains validated, stable, code. However this channel is missing many features you've come used to from past updates. Currently this update channel does not contain support for: GPU, Cellular, Wifi, Desktop bridges, Automatic Brightness. It is however stable, will not overheat as much as the Experimental channel, and fully usable.

Installations using WOA Deployer will default to the Stable channel. The Experimental channel is available using DriverUpdater and the provided Lumia-Drivers-Experimental.zip file on Github.

2022-06-26 15:23:08 Hello everyone!

It has been a while since I made an update to this project. Part of the reason for this is our sister project, but also me being a bit more busy these days. However LumiaWOA is not dead. And today is no exception.

We know that the phone performance is not great, thermals are a problem, and battery life is an issue.

These issues didn't originally exist but rather came over time as more hardware started to work.

I do want to improve the situation but no magical instant fix exists as of today. (would be too easy heh)

There's also the fact that the 950s are 7 years old now, and the SoC did not age well.

That's why starting today, a new series of "alternative" updates will come out for the 950 series.

These updates will lack functionality compared to previous ones (ie, no cellular, no wifi, etc), but will always try to be in the most "stable state".

You will get the option to pick between a "stable" variant of the drivers, or a "complete, but unstable/heavy" version of the drivers as we figure out what the issues are.

The stable variant will not have everything that works as of today, and the unstable variants will.

I understand there's still lots of interest, and some of the issues are making the experience not enjoyable, but I also do not want to cut features you previously had which is why opting for two variants seems like the most sensible option so far.

For those that want a very stable phone and don't mind some functionality cut, these versions will be for you. The existing releases with all functionalities that work will be rebranded as experimental and may have bad thermal issues, performance issues, or other annoying issues.

If you would like to help with the task of identifying what is stable or not, or where the issues are located at precisely, I would welcome your help in the main discussion group (https://t.me/joinchat/RSnfDLHK4K7A05iw).

For the time being, see you again when one of such updates comes out!

2022-06-21 12:53:53 For people needing the drivers for using WPinternals, here's a backup of the repair avoidance server that hosted WDRT at one point. You really only need the drivers. WPI can do anything else

2022-02-03 13:13:13 Hey just a heads up!

As some of you may have found out by now we are branching off to working on Surface Duo to do the same thing we did to 950 devices. If you're interested in the development of this adventure, head over to @DuoWOA

What does this mean for LumiaWOA?

LumiaWOA is here to stay! There's still a few things we can do here, even if it looks like we have reached some form of end, we still have ideas/plans on things to do/improve/fix, so don't worry about it.

You can expect an update for LumiaWOA in the not too distant future with some improvements and a port you might have not seen in quite a while so far (read: Windows 10X)

Happy February!

In other news, expect a BSP update very soon that adds new Windows 11 integration with the touch driver. Not quite sure what to improve with LumiaWOA now, if you got any suggestion or want to contribute any application or anything, feel free to leave a comment.

Also yes we know about SD Card support. Soon

Happy New Year on behalf of the LumiaWOA team

Yet another year, yet another set of progress.

During 2021 we achieved:

- Windows 10X
- Linux (and Android)
- More stability
- 1.55Ghz (1st Cluster) for Snapdragon 808 / Lumia 950 (RM-1104)
- More stability
- Windows 11
- WOA Deployer 3

It has been an incredible journey since 2017, I think as a whole nobody expected this to go that far, at least not for 5 years in a row.

Without you none of this would have happened, thank you for being with us since the beginning, really means a lot!

Let's see what the future will unfold...
