2021-09-14 16:48:51 Some details about the state of processor management on SD808/MSM8992:

- Processor Management for the A53 cores (first cluster, 4 cores, little cores) is fully functional
- TSENS is fully functional for the first cluster
- SPM calls are working as expected for the first cluster

- Processor Management for the A57 cores (second cluster, 2 cores, big cores, high performance cores) is not functional
- TSENS is fully functional for the second cluster
- SPM calls are not working as expected for the second cluster

What does this means?

- Windows will report the SoC at 1.53Ghz, which is the speed of the A53 cluster, along with A53 cache values
- 1.96Ghz is the speed of the second cluster, which is not functional currently
- The A57 cluster runs without dynamic core variable (frequency) scaling (DCVS ) , which in turn makes it so the two last high performance cores run at 368Mhz all the time

This should explain the awkward issues with both benchmarks and reporting Open / Comment

IF YOU USED THE PREVIOUS SCRIPTS YOU MUST UNDO ALL CHANGES BEFORE APPLYING THE UPDATE AND DO NOT EVER USE THESE OLD DEPRECATED SCRIPTS.

What's new?

- Experimental pep with cpr/processor management enabled for all 6 cores (albeit the second cluster has some severe issues) for 8992/talkman/l950
- Fixed RF tuning for l950
- Udated synaptics touch (improves reliability of the touch driver, double tap to wake, and adds pen support with compatible firmwares (more on that later))
- Updated ril loading mechanism
- Resolved reboot/shutdown issues related to hibernation

In other words:

Lumia 950 (non XL users) are going to have all 6 cores working with Processor Management enabled, there is no need to use any script or modification anymore. There is also no need to change power settings thresholds anymore. If you previously applied any of these modifications, turn them off before applying this update.

After weeks months years, a configuration has been approved stable for Lumia 950 owners (talkman/RM-1104/05/08) to have better performance in Windows Desktop (ARM64) while only sacrificing two CPU cores that were not really that functional in the first place to begin with.

Due to the complexity and risk implied by such method, an automated set of scripts has been made to prevent both issues and physical damage due to user inadvertence or inability to be fast enough to apply all operations

The scripts while simple to use have their share of requirements:

- Must be running on a Lumia 950 (Talkman)
- Must be running with Dual Boot in DISABLED state

Two scripts:

- clockup: turn on processor management, ie, make my phone faster
- clockdown: turn off processor management, ie, make my phone slower but potentially cooler and more stable.

We need to find a way to easily and reliably update the digitizer firmware without you having to flash back mobile

There is also a bug currently with double tap to wake impacting sleep

And lastly, but this is optional, I would want to investigate issues on counterfeit digitizers with people using oneplus 6ts with replaced panels (we already made progress here but we need to refine workarounds) Open / Comment
