Some of you have been asking what Quora is, whether it is a vocab app or something for English learners. Yes and no.
Yes you can improve your English for two reasons:

1) You can ask questions regarding grammar or English and read the answers by native speakers to them.

2)There are so many interesting stuff there if you just search for something troubling you.(like the ones above)

No, it is not a vocab app but simply question-and-answer website where people share their knowledge in a variety of different topics

2022-05-22 20:11:49 Reading improvement from 4.5 to 7.0+

READ READ READ

When you are at intermediate level (4.5-5.0) I would recommend reading some story books or the ones for kids(native ones).
E.g.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Alice in Wonderland
Or any other story book. Don't underestimate their value!
There are some books as well such as "The Old man and the sea".

When you are reading them write down new words to Flash cards app and revise them constantly.

2) There is an app called Quora where people ask their questions and get the answers from people all over the world. You can also search your questions and simply read the answers given by others. Not only will your reading comprehension improve but also you will get some possible solutions to your problems.

3) On the website of British council there is a set of reading materials and exercises on them. Definitely check it out and do them every day (choose B1)
https://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/skills/reading

Do not do practice tests, anyway you won't be able to get more than 5.5

Instead just do the stuff mentioned above for at least 30 days and focus on your General English

2022-05-21 05:18:42 PODCAST WRITING

Have you heard about the active listening strategy in which you need to write one podcast word by word. I do believe that you thought this is a magical strategy and after doing so multiple times your listening will just skyrocket. Being the person who tried myself, I don't think this technique can help much for two reasons:

1.It is very very very boring and as a result most people won't do it having done just once, so progress isn't gonna come

2. You will try to write every single word and not listen to the podcast itself, this means you will not understand what the main topic is, what they are describing etc.

I myself got extremely bored when I did it.
----------------------------‐--------
But, there is good news

The very news is that there is another alternative to podcast writing. As the name suggests it is listening actively. Imo it means writing down some important points, good chunk of language and things you liked. This way you will be more alert and most importantly understand what you are listening rather than being a writing machine!

P.s. if you improved your listening skills by this method then great. I am against if you benefit!

2022-05-18 11:26:01 #SpeakingTip

When answering part1, don't talk too much. Probably I myslef made this mistake in my exam and it could be one of the reasons of my low score on Speaking portion. But even not considering my case, it is just part1 so don't scare the examiner by telling your story. Just keep it simple stupid and relevant.

E.g. if you are asked to talk about who taught you to read, just get to the point and don't jump into the benefits of reading.
