2023-04-25 22:46:08 #Breaking: Lt Gen Aleksandr Lentsov assigned new Commander of #Russia's peacekeeping contingent in #NagornoKarabakh, replacing Andrei Volkov in charge since January 2022.
Lentsov was the vice head of Russia's ground forces, an advisor to the Defence Ministry, taking part in military operations in Syria, being the second in command of Russian troops there in 2016. This is an interesting development.

Russian authorities have made the decision to recall Aleksandr Volkov, commander of the Russian peacekeepers in #Nagorno_Karabakh, replacing him with another person.

According to Hraparak, “The new commander is a colonel general, an experienced soldier who fought in the Russian wars; he is known in the Russian Defense Ministry for his strong will and self-possession. He is one of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu’s most trusted confidants, having worked with him for many years. He is going there, so to speak, to sort out the situation.”

“We have learned that Aleksandr Volkov is getting ready to leave. The new commander is supposed to arrive in the next few days and is already on his way,” the newspaper says. Open / Comment
