The Himalayan mountain range and Tibetan plateau have formed as a result of the collision between the Indian Plate and Eurasian Plate which began 50 million years ago and continues today.

225 million years ago  India was a large island situated off the Australian coast and separated from Asia by the Tethys Ocean.

The Indo-Australian tectonic plate collided with the Euroasian plate after many hundreds of millions of years of slow migration, forcing the land up and forming the area that is now India pushed against Tibet.

This created the massive mountain fold that is known as the Himalayas, some of the tallest mountains in the world. The mountain range extends for more than 1,500 miles, with the highest peak, Mount Everest, rising 29,029 feet above sea level.

Tectonic plates are located in the earth's lithosphere. These plates move at different rates through a process of convection.

In the Earth's inner mantle - which is directly below the lithosphere - molten rock forms and pushes hot gas and liquid upward.

The hot materials displace cooler gases and liquids and create convection currents that push the tectonic plates. Due to the continued plate movement, the Himalaya region also experiences many earthquakes.

Some of these earthquakes are some of the most destructive natural disasters on record.

The crushing force of gravity fuses the non-salty snow crystals into a giant slab of non-salty ice known as a glacier. This process is very slow and takes a long time. Gravity not only pulls the snow down into the ice, it also pulls the ice downhill.

It's pretty well-known that most clouds are white, while rain clouds are usually a darker shade of gray.

But why are rain clouds so dark?

Unlike atmospheric particles that scatter more blue light than other colors (making the sky blue), the tiny cloud particles equally scatter all colors of light, which together make up white light.

However, rain clouds are gray instead of white because of their thickness, or height. That is, a cloud gets thicker and denser as it gathers more water droplets and ice crystals the thicker it gets, the more light it scatters, resulting in less light penetrating all the way through it.

The particles on the underside of the rain cloud don't have a lot of light to scatter to your eyes, so the base appears gray as you look on from the ground below.

This effect becomes more pronounced the larger the water droplets get such as right before they're large enough to fall from the sky as rain or snow because they become more efficient at absorbing light, rather than scattering it.

A nebulizer turns liquid medicine into a mist to help treat your asthma. They come in electric or battery-run versions. They come in both a portable size you can carry with you and a larger size that’s meant to sit on a table and plug into a wall. Both are made up of a base that holds an air compressor, a small container for liquid medicine, and a tube that connects the air compressor to the medicine container. Above the medicine container is a mouthpiece or mask you used to inhale the mist.

Pressurized air passes through the tube and turns the liquid medicine into a mist. During an asthma attack or a respiratory infection, the mist may be easier to inhale than the spray from a pocket inhaler. When your airways become narrow like during an asthma attack, you can’t take deep breaths. For this reason, a nebulizer is a more effective way to deliver the medication than an inhaler, which requires you to take a deep breath.

Bilevel positive airway pressure Machine (BiPAP) is a small ventilator, the size of a tiffin box.

It is used to provide ventilation to patients who are insufficiently breathing.

It is a non-invasive technique of ventilation provided by using either a nasal mask or a face mask.

Breathing is accomplished normally by the movement of the diaphragm, when breathing in the diaphragm moves down, resulting in a drop in pressure in the sacs of the lungs, allowing air to flow in and when breathing out the diaphragm rises increasing the pressure, and pushing the air out.

The BiPAP machine cycles between two levels of continuous positive airway pressure.

This means that the machine pumps air at two different pressures. This is diffrent from a continuous positive airway pressure machine (CPAP) which pumps air at only one pressure level.

The machine works by providing air at a higher pressure to facilitate inhalation and at a lower pressure to facilitate exhalation.

BiPAP Machines are used to treat patients suffering from respiratory failures in diseases such as Pneumonia, Pulmonary Edema and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

This mode of ventilation in adults has resulted in shorter duration of ventilation, less need for sedation, and fewer complications than intubation and positive pressure ventilation.
