中芯国际集成电路制造有限公司(Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp, SMIC, 981-HK) 公布了23财年第一季度业绩报告，这是三年多以来第一次出现季度收入下滑。

中芯国际最近宣布 23 财年第一季度收入同比下降 20.61% 至 146 万美元。该公司上一次出现销售下滑是在2019年第三季度。应占净利润下降至2.311亿美元，同比下降48%。调整后每股收益(EPS)为每股0.03美元，下降46.70%，超出分析师预期的每股0.019美元。

业务方面，中芯国际继续按照扩张计划投入资本支出。目前，中芯深圳已进入量产；中芯京城预计下半年进入量产；中芯东方预计年底通线；中芯西青还在建设中。

展望未来，中芯国际已给出了第二季度的指引。该公司预计收入将增长5%至7%，毛利率预计将在19%至21%之间。

中芯国际预计产能利用率和出货量将比第一季度表现更好。该公司的订单主要来自12英寸40纳米和28纳米的新产品。12英寸40纳米和28纳米产品已恢复到满载，复苏的领域包括DDIC摄像头，LED驱动芯片。

2023-05-18 04:15:31 China's chip production turning the corner ?

Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC, 981-HK) posted a Q1FY23 earnings report with the first decline in quarterly revenue in more than three years.

SMIC recently announced Q1FY23 revenue falling -20.61% from a year ago to US$1.46 million. The last time the company saw a sales decline was in the third quarter of 2019. Net profit attributable fell to US$231.1 million, down -48% year-on-year. The adjusted earnings per share (EPS) were US$0.03 per share, down -46.70%, and exceed analysts' estimate of US$0.019 per share.

Business-wise, SMIC continue to invest capital expenditures in line with the expansion plan. Currently, SMIC Shenzhen has entered mass production; SMIC Jingcheng is expected to enter mass production in the second half of the year; SMIC Oriental is expected to start the mini-line by the end of this year; SMIC Xiqing is still under construction.

Looking ahead, SMIC has given forward guidance in the second quarter. The company expects the revenue is expected to increase by 5% to 7% and the gross margin is expected to be between 19% and 21%.

SMIC expected the capacity utilization rate and shipments will perform better than in the first quarter. The company gets orders mainly from the new 12-inch 40nm and 28nm products. The 12-inch 40nm and 28 nm products have been restored to full capacity, and the recovery areas include DDIC camera and LED driver chips.

Meanwhile, China's integrated circuit (IC) output in April saw its first monthly uptick in 16 months as Beijing continues to push local industries to boost domestic chip production in the face of declining imports amid US restrictions. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NSB), the production data of ICs with an annual turnover above US$2.9 billion increased by 3.8% year-on-year in April.

The share price of SMIC is up +28.79% year-to-date, and the last price was HKD20.40

Bloomberg consensus rating has 13 Buys, 13 Holds, and 6 Sells with a 12-month target price of HKD20.56

西方石油公司(Occidental Petroleum Corp, OXY) 公布第一季度收入下滑，未能实现盈利预期。然而，沃伦·巴菲特(Warren Buffet) 旗下公司伯克希尔·哈撒韦公司(Berkshire Hathaway Inc. B, BRK B) 继续买入更多西方石油公司的股票。

西方石油公司宣布，其23 财年第一季度收入同比下降 13% 至 72.6 亿美元。 应占净利润为 9.83 亿美元，低于上年同期的 46.76 亿美元。调整后每股收益(EPS)为每股 1.09 美元，下降 -48.58%，低于分析师预期的每股 1.235 美元。

2023-05-17 16:13:00 Warren Buffett buys more Occidental !

Occidental Petroleum Corp (OXY) reported revenue slipping and missed first-quarter earnings. However, Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway (BRK B) continued to buy more Occidental oil shares.

Occidental announced Q1FY23 revenue decreased 13% to US$7.26 billion in Q1. Net profit attributable was US$983 million, down from US$4,676 million in the prior year. The adjusted earnings per share (EPS) were US$1.09 per share, down -48.58% and missed analysts’ estimate of US$1.235 per share.

Occidental Petroleum produced 1.22 million barrels of oil equivalent per day in Q1, up 13% from last year. Occidental raised its full-year production guidance to average 1.195 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOE/D). Occidental executives previously forecast 2023 production to average 1.18 million BOE/D.

After releasing the missed earnings results, Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway has substantially increased its stake in the international oil industry. Berkshire recently disclosed that it bought nearly US$130 million of Occidental oil shares in the past few days. Berkshire’s latest purchase ware made at prices between US$56.34 and US$58.52

After a buying in May, Berkshire currently owns 213.9 million Occidental shares or a 24% stake. Those stakes are worth more than US$12 billion.

Buffett has regularly bought Occidental shares since early last year when the stock drops below US$60. Meanwhile, Buffett told investors that he has no intention to take over Occidental Petroleum even though he and Berkshire Hathaway “love” their current OXY shares.
