TGIF and 3, 2, 1… blast off! Standing 18-metres tall and proud is the Rocket Tower, one of Upper Seletar Reservoir’s iconic landmarks #Funfact: it was built in 1969, which was the same year astronauts from NASA’s Apollo 11 space mission landed on the moon! This futuristic building is said to reflect the “space fever” back in the day.

One of the Rocket Tower’s main features is the long, winding spiral staircase leading to the very top of the tower, where you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view of Upper Seletar’s waterfront

Born and raised in Singapore, meet LA-based illustrator & character designer Jane Shi who is currently working on a top-secret Warner Bros. animated show

Growing up, she was a prolific doodler and knew deep down that she wanted to pursue art, but it was a path that she (and her parents) allowed herself only after flunking her A Levels. When one door closes, another door opens.

Despite their extraterrestrial appearance, these futuristic twin towers located along Old Tampines Road are actually water storage tanks, making up Tampines NEWater Service Reservoir and providing clean water to nearby electronic chip manufacturing factories

#Funfact: The elevated tanks measure up to 43 meters in diameter at the top, and it can hold up to 8500 cubic meters of water – that’s nearly the same amount of water in 4 Olympic-sized swimming pools!
