• MC primary brain tumor: Meningioma (35%) > Glial tumors (30%)
• Meningiomas are the MC intracranial, extra-axial dural-based neoplasm
• Predominantly benign tumors of adults, more common in women.
• Common in patients with past history of cranial irradiation
• Derived from meningomesothelial cells of arachnoid
• Mostly occur along the superior sagittal sinus
• Most are slow growing and encapsulated
Pathology:
• Round encapsulated mass showing characteristic enplaque pattern of growth
• Tumor may range from firm to fibrous to finely gritty and may show extreme calcification and psammoma bodies
