The winners were rewarded depending on the number and quality of animations:

Each GIF with 2.67+ rating received $40 and each GIF with a rating from 2 to 2.66 received $20.

1. GIFs (with 2+ rating), which were created specifically for this contest by the participants, received an additional $40 for each GIF.

2. GIFs (with 2+ rating) with a size less than 300 KB received a size bonus of $15. GIF animations with a size from 300 to 499 KB received a $7 bonus.

The task of the second round of the competition is same to the first, the GIF criteria and the end date of the competition are spelled out on the official channel, and bad work examples are taken out in a separate channel.

Unlimited Live Streams
• Broadcast video and share your screen to an unlimited number of viewers.
• To begin, tap 'Video Chat' (in Groups) or 'Live Stream' (in Channels) on the profile page of a community where you are an admin.

Flexible Forwarding
• Tap the ‘Forward Message’ label above the input field to preview or change how messages will be sent.
• Hide or show the original sender’s name.
• Remove or keep captions from media messages.
• Select and Unselect messages to change which ones will be forwarded.

Jump to Next Channel
• Scroll through channels you follow without going back to your chat list.
• When you reach the bottom of a channel, swipe up to go to the next unread channel.

Better Stickers
• Discover Trending Stickers above the ‘Recently Used’ section in your sticker panel.
• Easily locate your sticker packs — when scrolling the top bar, the thumbnails enlarge to give you a better view.
• Know when your chat partner is looking for stickers – their status will show “Choosing a sticker”.
• When you enter one emoji in the message bar, sticker suggestions appear – now with larger previews.
• Pull upward on the suggestions panel to see more stickers.

Unread Comment Counters
• See how many unread comments there are when opening a channel's comments.

Improved Search for Internal Sharing
• Frequent Contacts and Recent Search results now appear when you tap 'Search' while sharing messages inside Telegram.

According to Sensor Tower, the messenger got into the list of 15 apps which were downloaded more than 1 billion times worldwide, as TechCrunch reports.

India, Russia, and Indonesia are the countries Telegram is most downloaded in, with 22, 10, and 8 percents of downloads accordingly.

“The app’s installs accelerated in 2021, reaching about 214.7 million installs in the first half of 2021, up 61% year-over-year from 133 million in H1 2020”, — they added.

It’s important to know that install count doesn’t reflect active users number.

2021-08-28 14:31:00 Group Video Call with unlimited viewers

Today, at 14:00 UTC, Telegram will start a group video call with unlimited viewers in testing channel.

The Telegram Team recommends you to take part in testing video calls using the Telegram Beta apps for Android 8.0+ and iOS 8.0+ (including iOS TestFlight).

Currently, Telegram for iOS Beta has not been released yet.

UPD: The test will take part 30 minutes later, at 14:30 UTC.

In Telegram for Android and macOS Beta, you can see a new type of message: "sponsored".

Telegram for Android developers updated source code of the app. Based on it, we made a list of future changes.

What's new:
— After you reach the end of a channel, an extra swipe will open next unread channel. Currently it's unknown what name will be assigned to the feature.
— Record video in voice chats in either horizontal or vertical orientation.
— Trending packs in the sticker chooser pane.
— An option to forward messages without specifying the author of the original message.
— (Not sure yet) animated gradient for message bubbles, just like background one.

In Telegram for macOS Beta, users can remove the sender's name in the forwarded message. To do this, users need to click on the cross, after selecting the chat to forward a message.

At the moment, it's unknown how the messages will look like after forwarding. Due to restrictions on the server, this function doesn't work. In the future, this feature will appear in other messenger clients.
