This street is not just your ordinary «oh, a historical place, how interesting». Just few facts about it
Rue de Barres:
On the pic you can see it on one of the oldest maps of Paris that we have - from
1550. Yup, it’s right there. And it's probably been there since the Vikings - we just don't have maps old enough to show it.
The church is called Église Saint-Gervais-et-Saint-Protais, and it’s been there since
1650. It stands on the place where the first church was built in the
7th (!!!) century.
Every single house has a long story to tell. For example, building number 15 is from
1624. And building number 12 was the home of the nuns from the local abbey, and it’s last rebuild was in
1540.
