2021-05-22 21:12:16 UN Global Road Safety Week 2021

The 6th UN Global Road Safety Week ends tomorrow but it does not mean that we can forget about the importance of low-speed streets for our own safety

Do not stop speading the information about it and take actions to transform the environment around you into a safer place!

For example, the first step can be sharing this infographics or the 2030 Manifesto

«The 2030 Manifesto from the FIA Foundation-coordinated Child Health Initiative is launched to coincide with the 3rd Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety. The Manifesto calls for a transformation of urban streets by 2030 into safe, low speed and accessible space that puts people first, encouraging zero carbon walking and cycling, by deploying the ‘Speed Vaccine’: safe footpaths and crossings; protected cycleways; and maximum 30 km/h speed limits anywhere children and traffic mix».

You can download it here: https://www.fiafoundation.org/connect/publications/these-are-our-streets-manifesto-2030

2021-05-18 21:31:33 UN Global Road Safety Week

When? 17-23 May 2021

«Every 24 seconds - about the time it takes to read the Open Letter - another person is killed in a road traffic crash».

We want to live in the world, which is safe and where streets are liveable. That's why the United Nations and all of us call for limiting speeds to 30km/h (20 mph) in places, where people walk and live.

You can join the campaign too, this is how to do it:

Join a thematic event, organized by the UN entities: https://www.unroadsafetyweek.org/en/news/news-item/t/global-events-during-the-un-week

Sign the Open Letter and spread the message: https://www.unroadsafetyweek.org/en/home

Get involved and let’s make a difference!

2021-05-16 17:33:15 International Day of living together in Peace

In 2007 the UN General Assembly in the resolution 72/130 declared 16 May the International Day of living together in peace.

On this day all countries are invited to further promote peace and support initiatives, which facilitate an acceptance of differences and encourage people to listen, recognize and appreciate others.

UN Peacekeeping is one of ways to help countries to achieve lasting peace, reduce violence and protect civilians in conflict areas.
Today The United Nations keeps peace with 90 000 peacekeepers in 12 operations worldwide
Over the past 72 years more than 1 million women and men from 125 countries have served over 71 peacekeeping operations.
UN peacekeeping is cost-effective, its annual budget is less than 0,5% of global military spending.
By 2028 the UN aims to triple the number of women serving in military contingents and double the number of women serving in formed police units.
