2022-08-31 00:05:34 The former Azerbaijani ambassador to Los Angeles, Nasimi Aghayev, thanked Los Angeles County for the certificate of gratitude that was awarded to him for strengthening ties between Los Angeles and Azerbaijan.

A little later, the officials who allegedly signed this certificate said that their signature was falsified.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger said:

“My signature was added without authorization from my office. A statement will soon be issued by @CountyofLA's Office of Protocol clarifying their error. I have and will always stand in solidarity with the #Armenian community”

“Thank you for bringing this to my attention — we are investigating the matter promptly. Please know that I have always stood in solidarity with the Armenian community, and grateful to represent Little Armenia which is a part of the First District,” said the second supervisor of Los Angeles County Hilda Solis.

“My signature was added to this scroll without my knowledge. I have always been a strong supporter of the Armenian people and I can see why this has offended so many Armenians here in LA County. I sincerely apologize,” added Janice Hahn.

However, this did not bother the ex-ambassador to the United States, and now the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Germany, who accused Dashnaks and ANCA of all sins.

The Committee expresses deep concern about allegations of grave human rights violations committed by the Azerbaijani military forces against prisoners of war and other protected persons of Armenian ethnic or national origin.

The Committee is also disturbed by reports on the destruction of Armenian cultural heritage, including churches, monuments, landmarks and cemeteries.

The comments caused strong reactions in Turkey, leading to the Turkish Foreign Minister saying that "hostilities in Africa come from France's colonial past"

Turkey's ties with Algeria have been very strong and its influence is well known, by citing 'political islamists' Macron was undoubtedly referring to Turkey, which led to the reaction cited above. Turkey is seen as one of the countries in the world with the strongest islamic policies despite not being fully theocratic
