Extempore - The single biggest problem in communication is miscommunication.

M1 - (cross question) You can learn answered things from books and news paper, then why?

Me - Answer ( M1 seems satisfied with the answer)

M1 - What would do if you would not be selected in any B school?

M1 - Answered and shared the converted call?

M1 - Explain your job profile?

Me - Explained

M1 - Asked some garment QA standard related questions.

Me - Dont know sir as I was involved in product development cell.

M2- Which specialisation want to opt and why?

Me - Answered for marketing and related the same with my work ex.

M2 - Are u doing something for ur interest.

Me - Answered with a online free certificate course, which I have completed recently.

M2- What r ur hobbies.

Me - Singing and listening songs, and regular workout.

M2- Ok, u can sing also, which type of songs would u prefer?

Me - Told, songs post 2000's.

M2- Ok, then sing a good song for me.

Me - Sang "Fir mohabbat karne chala from Murder2.

M2 - praised for the song & asked about favourite singer.

Me - Told, Arijit Singh

M3- your subjects in UG?

Me - Answered.

M3- What happens when repo rate fall.
Me - Answered.

M3- Asked about some economic curve ( not able to recall exactly)

M3- not able to recall as left UG's subject long ago and totally involved in textile sector.

M3- No problem.

M2 & M1 - it was nice talking to u. Now u can leave.

There were highly experienced members in my PI panel but the process went comfortably, revolved arround my work-ex and hobbies. Fumbled a bit during extempore as, topic was very generic and open ended. Overall good experience.

F3 - okay, forget online education, tell me disadvantages of telehealth and telemedicine

F3 - (since I mentioned emergencies can't be treated through telemedicine) but AIIMS has emergency telehealth block as well, what about that?

F3 - which sector do you wanna work in 10 year down the line?

F3 - (continuing to that...) Let's say you're getting a good offer from a very reputed consulting firm and you also get very very high paying and lucrative offer from Investment Banking, which one would you choose?

Tell me about urself and why u want to do lsm.

So u r a zoology student. I said yes.

And what makes u learn Japanese language.

What u find interesting in it.

Why women work less at leading position in Japan compare to India?

Tell me about their culture.

How japanese companies are differnet from Indian companies?

Do u think it is fair that vaccines prices are different for central and private hospitals.(3-4 min discussion on it)

What would you have done for vaccines, as india is facing deficiency of it.( I said that it is better to give vaccines to our people first rather than exporting them to other countries)

She laughed and said, Don't u think it is selfish that we take raw material from them and consume all vaccines for our own( I said some things and she seemed convinced)

So, is it true that japanese do overwork. And European companies are diff from them bcoz they have less working our, So, what do u think overwork is good or not. (3-4 min discussion)

Interview started staight with grilling. I was asked questions like:

1. Guinness world record holders.

2. What does DC stand for in Washington DC

3. Nobel prize winners. This is only question I was able to answer and said Daniel Kahneman. They are like we are interested in indian nobel prize winners. Do you know any?

4. Number of states in US

5. Rivers flowing from punjab

Many more GK questions which doesn't make any sense and has particular answer.

No open ended questions.

Finally after all the grilling when I was about to leave the meeting.

1 panelist said 1 last question do you know capital of Turkey

2 male panelists. Let's call them M1, M2, X= Me

X: Greeted them.

M1: Hope you and your family are doing good. Hope you all are safe. Are you in Kolkata? Where are you joining from?
X: No, from diff city. 12 hours journey on train from Kolkata. My family is doing good. But my father is a frontline worker. So I am a little bit worried.

M1: Your father is doing great job. You should be proud of that.
X: Yes sir. I am.

M1: What other calls you have?
X: IIM L, I, S, CAP

M1: You have good calls. Why you applied for IIM k LSM?
X: Told about my interests in social work. I am working with two NGOs. In the last term of LSM there is a optional subject in social work. So it aligns with my interest.

M1: Still I am sure if you get Lucknow you'll go there any day.
X: Sir Lucknow PGP is general MBA. Here I will get to learn different aspects of management. Where LSM is a niche course. Both has their own benefits.
To be frank, I will choose IIM L over IIM K LSM.

M1: It's okay. Totally upon you. You have good thoughts. So decide accordingly.

M1: What do you think who will win this election in Bengal?
X: Explained its a tough fight but according to exit polls TMC might win by a small margin.

M1: Why not BJP?
X: Told.

M1: How BJP came to West Bengal? Why there is so much polarization?
And how this transition happened? When I was your age I remember CPIM was there. Then TMC came. And now BJP. Please tell me what happened.
X: Explained the transition. What people might thought at that time. (It was a pretty long answers so not mentioning here).

M1: Okay, you look very much interested in politics. Let M2 ask you few questions.

M2: So you are from St. Xavier's Kolkata, it's a good college. You must be a good student.
X: I hope I am.

M2: But your graduation score doesn't say so.
X: I smiled and gave a prepared answer.

M2: Tell me what is your favourite subjects?
X: Probability, inference.

M2: Difference between Normal and Poisson distribution.
X: Gave three points.

M2: Good. I am done.

M1: Do you have any question for us?
X: Sir, with social work I have interest in marketing. So I had a question in mind about this course. In an article I read recently Dr. Debashish Chaterjee said that LSM has marketing and HR courses but people will learn differently. What is that difference?

M1: I am a strategy faculty so I think prof M2 will be able to answer it in a better way.

M2: Told about the course structure and it's alignment towards arts, not technical, but we will learn ethical, physiological ways of doing marketing. To be honest most of the things you will learn outside the campus if you want to pursue marketing. You have to participate in a lot of case competitions, market research, live projects etc. And you'll love it.
X: Yes sir. That's why LSM have also introduced rural immersion program and student exchange program mandatory, so that students can have different perspectives about different culture of the society.

P2: Exactly.

P1: You have refined thought process. That's good. It was really nice to talk to you X. Have a good day. Stay safe. Eat healthy. You can log off.
