The first meal eaten in space was in the spring of 1961 by Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. Gagarin had a pureed meat in a squeezable toothpaste-style tube, followed by a tube of chocolate sauce.

The following year, John Glenn became the first American to eat in space, enjoying puréed beef with vegetables from an aluminum tube, among other edible delights.


Glenn and his fellow Mercury astronauts were given food in fairly unrecognizable forms. In addition to semi-liquids in tubes, NASA offered crushed cornflakes and crushed wheat molded into bite-sized cubes which were then coated in gelatin so they didn't crumble.

By the mid-1960s missions were up to two weeks, and eating was less experimental and more for nutritional sustenance. At the same time provisions had to be made with the smaller weight and mass constraints. According to NASA, the food system for each astronaut per day on Gemini 7 was limited to 0.77kg, which had to include food packaging.

2021-06-25 16:33:49 The full moon rose last night (June 24), marking the last supermoon of the year.
June's full moon is referred to as the Strawberry Moon because it falls during the strawberry harvesting season in the northeastern U.S. Similarly, June's full moon has also been called the Rose Moon because it occurs around the time roses bloom.
This full Moon goes by several other names: Mead Moon, Honey Moon, Flower Moon, Hot Moon, Hoe Moon, and the Planting Moon
Supermoon occurs when the moon is at its closest point to Earth in its orbit, also known as perigee. This year's Strawberry Moon closely followed the summer solstice (June 20). During the summer solstice, the sun was at its highest and northernmost point in the sky. As a result, full moons that occur near the summer solstice are lower in the sky because the moon is exactly opposite the sun during its full phase.

The First Parliament Sitting was held in Vienna three years ago. Since then, the Parliament has done a terrific job, with 12 sessions conducted and numerous acts adopted, and many ministers and other officials approved.

2021-06-23 15:18:33 Tide has partnered with NASA to develop the first laundry detergent for use in space and to test stain removal on board the International Space Station in 2022!

Astronauts aboard the station do not have the ability to clean their clothes. Research has been done using antimicrobial fabrics to combat body odors, but in general, astronauts wear the same clothes several times before discarding them for a new set.

In total, 72.5 kilograms of clothing per crew member per year are launched to the station.
