2022-04-17 16:00:05 The most distant galaxy on record has been spotted by an international team of astronomers.

It's called HD1 and it's some 13.5 billion light-years away. It dates from around 300 million years after the Big Bang.

HD1 may be forming more than 100 stars every single year. This is at least 10 times higher than other starburst galaxies like M82.

Astronomers hope to obtain more clarity using the James Webb Space Telescope when it becomes fully operational.

2022-04-16 13:00:06 In July 2015, NASA's New Horizons spacecraft sent home the first close-up photos of Pluto and its moons - amazing images that inspired many to think about what flying over the icy terrain of a distant world might look like.

Using actual New Horizons data and digital models of Pluto's heights, mission scientists have created a film about an exciting flight over a distant icy planet, which allows a new look at the cold world of Pluto.

2022-04-16 10:00:06 A comet believed to be 1,000 times larger than normal and 60 miles wide has been discovered by a pair of United States astronomers, Pedro Bernardinelli and Gary Bernstein, from the University of Pennsylvania.

The comet is a relic from the Oort Cloud which contains a bunch of leftovers kicked out of the solar system by Jupiter about 4 billion years ago.

The Dark Energy Survey first spotted the comet in 2014 without any tail, but the news has not been made public until now.

The closest the comet is expected to get to the sun is about the distance of Jupiter or Saturn, which will be in 2031.
