More than 50% of food waste happens at the consumer and retail stage, especially in industrialised cities like Hong Kong, Jakarta, and Singapore. What can we do to fix this and how can we support the businesses that are tackling this issue?

Find out in Food, Wasted, a three-part documentary series by CNA, in partnership with DBS. Watch the full episode and find out more here: https://go.dbs.com/3mZDOpP

2021-04-21 11:35:51 #DidYouKnow?: About 7 to 15 tonnes of perfectly edible chickens are wasted everyday (from just one supplier!) simply because some parts of the chicken are less desirable than others.

For example, Singaporeans tend to purchase chicken legs and not breasts. The leftover chicken parts are usually thrown away by the supplier at the end of the day.

This loss doesn’t just apply to poultry, but to all kinds of food – vegetables, fruits, meat – even before it reaches the consumers.

In a three-part series, DBS, in collaboration with CNA, hits the food trail to take a closer look at the alarming scale of food waste in Asia – and what people are doing about it.

Coffee is so versatile that #MasterChefSG contestants found a way to incorporate it into ALL their dishes in the last episode.

In fact, with some heart and innovation, we’ve seen how coffee can even save lives and livelihoods.

2021-03-29 13:13:50 Watching the international cuisine challenge on #MasterChefSG made us hungry to taste the world! Whether you’re craving risotto, tom yam or kimchi soup, growing your own edible garden can really elevate your dishes. As MasterChef Singapore judge Audra Morrice said, “Respect the vegetables!”

Bringing the farm into your kitchen can also help reduce the stress on long, unsustainable food supply chains, reducing the resulting food loss and waste, and emissions released from transportation.
