Binghatti plans to build the world's tallest residential skyscraper in Dubai. In the process, the developer has coined a new term – ‘hyper-tower’.

For this project, Binghatti has partnered with Jacob & Co, a luxury jewelry and watch brand.

The new tower will be in Business Bay, and the plan is to raise it to more than 100 floors.

There will be five penthouses at the tower, which draws a direct line to Jacob & Co.’s legacy in watch- and jewelry.

Three types of penthouses will be available, each named after a flagship Jacob & Co timepiece - Fleurs De Jardin, Astronomia, and Billionaire. Similar influences will also be evident in the interior designs of the penthouse collection.

About 80 per cent of parking payments in Dubai are done via mobile phone apps and text messages.

About 9,000 payments a day are done through WhatsApp. This mode of payment lets motorists save the 30-fil charge that comes with paying the fee via SMS.

Payments can be made by QR code stickers attached to parking machines and signs using the App Clip. A major advantage of the application is that there will be no need to download the RTA Dubai app or register for the service.

Furthermore, WhatsApp payments were overhauled through the Mahboub chatbot, as well as the Dubai NOW mobile app, which displays nearby locations on an interactive map and allows motorists to pay by credit card.

How do you pay for parking in Dubai? Tell us in the comments

On Tuesday, November 8, UAE skygazers will be able to witness a penumbral lunar eclipse and a blood moon.

A total lunar eclipse will be visible in many parts of the world, but not in the UAE.

There will be a total eclipse in Dubai at 2:16 pm and it will end at 3:41 pm below the horizon. Due to this, we cannot see the full phase of the lunar eclipse from Dubai.

At 5:33 pm the Moon rises in Dubai at 0.2 degrees below the flat horizon and the Moon is entirely above the horizon in Dubai at 5:36 pm when the eclipse achieves its maximum intensity. As a result, Dubai may only see a penumbral lunar eclipse, which lasts until 5:58 pm.

According to Nasa, after today's eclipse, the next total lunar eclipse will not be repeated until March 14, 2025.

The UAE residents woke up to a world in which almost all restrictions on Covid security have been lifted. Nearly three years after the pandemic disrupted everyday life, things are back to normal.

The only three Covid rules that remain as on November 7 are:

Health facilities and centres for people of determination must continue to use masks
Those infected with Covid-19 will continue to be isolated for five days.
Organisers of sporting events and activities may request Covid tests or vaccination certificates based on the type or importance of the event.

What do you think of the softening of the restrictions connected with Covid?

In the early hours of Monday morning, firefighters battled a large blaze at a high-rise in Downtown Dubai.
The flames spread throughout the entire 35-story building.

By dawn, the flames were out, but a large part of the facade was charred.

Developer Emaar built the building as part of a tower complex called 8 Boulevard Walk.

Dubai Police and civil defence authorities are being contacted for details.
