In early June, following pressure from Hamas, UNRWA director in Gaza Matias Shamali was forced to leave the Gaza Strip. Since then, UNRWA appointed a new director in Gaza, Thomas White (from Australia), replacing Shamali.

It's important to note that Shamali was "deported" from Gaza following an interview he had with the Israeli "Channel 12" after operation "Guardians of the Walls" had ended. In it, he claimed that the IDF's attacks were accurate and hardly harmed civilian targets. Open / Comment

Fatah official Jibril Rajoub announced today at a press conference in Hebron that an "Atwa" ceremony will be held tomorrow evening between the two sides. The ceremony is meant to alleviate some of the tensions present these last few days in the city since the assassination of Basel al-Jabri.

In the "Atwa" ceremony, the murdered person's family agrees to a ceasefire with the family of the murderer for a limited amount of time, during which the parties are supposed to settle the conflict in a more peaceful environment while generally calming the tensions between the clans.

Tonight the temporary ceasefire between the families was supposed to end yet was extended until tomorrow to prevent revenge plots from taking place right before the "Atwa" ceremony. Open / Comment

Preparations are already underway ahead of the expected announcement tomorrow of the results of the high school final exams. In the attached photos are trays packed full of sweets ready for celebrations, moments after the expected announcement.

A Hamas Interior Ministry spokesman once again warned against "celebratory firing", announcing that Hamas will confiscate weapons used for such, even if they are legally owned or belong to activists of one of the armed factions. In his last speech today as president, Hassan Rouhani admitted for the first time that Israel was responsible for smuggling the Iranian nuclear archive documents out of Iran, later sharing their content with the Americans.

For the first time, an Iranian official has publicly acknowledged this incident. Rouhani's deputy, Ishaq Jahangiri, added that Israel was behind the explosions in Iranian oil tankers in recent years, adding that "Israel sent people who approached the tankers and blew them up." Open / Comment
