Amid Turkey's soaring inflation and its recent economy downgrade by Moody's (post here), the Turkish government insists on making economic interventions that further damage the already crumbling economy

Turkey's economic troubles might be one of many factors for Erdogan's erratic behavior that has isolated Turkey in 2022 more than it did in 2020 diuring the Evros border crisis.

Erdogan is trying his best to hold off the negative impacts of his government to not lose the upcoming elections while also trying to score points with Turkish nationalists who want to see a strong and neo-ottoman leader

The U.S Senator has been very open against Turkish military deals with the U.S due to Turkey's attitude towards Greece, France and more recently also due to Turkey's blackmail against Sweden and Finland to join NATO

Less than 24 hours after the two ships transporting 170 illegal immigrants to the Greek island of Kythera, a third boat ran aground with 71 illegal immigrants on board

According with reports, the illegals in the third boat are mostly from Iran and Iraq, among the 71, 10 would be minors and 10 would be women

Additional reports show that the native population is angry at the large number of illegals arriving, with some saying that they should be sent back the way they came, many were also shocked by how many of these illegals are men and how could they be "refugees in need of care" while also having the latest phones

A lot of anger also seems to stem from the fact that the authorities have isolated an area where a few days prior was used by the natives and their children to enjoy their weekends

According with Greece's Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, 60 smugglers have been arrested in the last few days, and an estimated 1500 illegal immigrants tried to enter Greece this weekend alone

The Minister also took the opportunity to criticize SIRIZA's leader (largest opposition party in Greece) who accused the government of being inhumane for leaving immigrants stranded on an islet in the middle of the Evros river which after checking the coordinates, proves that the islet is in Turkish territory. The scandal was once again fabricated by the Turkish media (post about the incident here)

It is worth noting that due to border fortifications such as walls and razor wire, illegal immigration in the Evros region was made a lot harder, with smugglers sometimes opting to cross into Bulgaria first to avoid the Greek-Turkish border

A "scandal" was again fabricated by the Turkish media, claiming that illegal immigrants were stranded on an island in the middle of the Evros River

The 38 illegals stated that they were arrested in Turkey, bused by Turkish authorities to a camp, taken to the bank of the Evros River and moved three times to different areas under violent threats until they found a place to cross

The Greek minister of immigration stated that the area where they were located had very shallow waters, being impossible to be "stranded" there

During the same interview, the Minister lied saying that last year Greece had the lowest illegal immigration flows in a decade and that this year was the second lowest, contradicting the reports from Greek authorities that shows 2022 with 300% more immigrant crossings than 2021 and 50% more than 2020 (post HERE)

Two sailboats with around 170 illegal immigrants reached the Greek island of Kythira

The boats sailed from the Turkish coast as usual and the first was spotted early in the morning by Greek Authorities since it ran aground in a rocky area, the second ship was spotted around noon

On the first ship there were 93 Afghans, 1 Pakistani and 3 Turks. 15 of them were women and 82 are men

The second boat was carrying, according to reports, 73 people, including two Russians and mostly Iraqi and Iranians

The 3 Turks were arrested for being the smugglers

Sadly the primary source regarding the incident comes from the German NGO "Alarm Phone", the information is very dubious and cant be verified

Alarm Phone claims 21 people were isolated on the island, 1 of them injured

They lost contact with the illegal immigrants after the group claimed to have been found by authorities. The NGO said that the Greek authorities deny it and were still looking for the group. Then accuses Greece of somehow pushing them back to Turkish waters (ancient boat materialization sorcery?)

The NGO happens to know the precise location of far too many illegal immigrant boats long before the authorities of any country. They were investigated and charged in Greece for espionage and human smuggling along with other NGOs (Post HERE)

Thankfully the based Greek fisherman has not been identified
