Information about nationality and age of the illegal immigrant have not been released.

Witnesses reported that on 05/06 an illegal immigrant was seen setting fire to a pine tree near the illegal immigrant camp of Malakasa, Lesvos. The fire brigade responded and along with the native residents of the area the fire was put out. Shortly after, the police conducted searches and was able to locate the perpetrator which was conducted to the Avlona Police Station

Three people were arrested in Thessaloniki, for trafficking illegal immigrants.

The police found that two illegals were being smuggled in the trunk of the car the traffickers were using. A total of six illegals were on that car. Open / Comment

Just another regular occurrence since Summer is approaching. Lesvos and other Greek islands as well as the areas bordering Turkey where illegals use to cross into Greece tend to experience more fires during summer. A few years ago it was found that illegal immigrants were responsible for most of them

The USA, Germany, France and finally the EU Commission slammed Turkey with the EU emphasizing that "Turkish overflights over Greek inhabited areas violate international law"

Greece has agreed to send Ukraine several hundreds of BMP-1 armored vehicles. The agreement follows the lines of Czech-German agreements in which the Czech Republic will supply Ukraine with its old german weaponry and receive the updated corresponding version of such vehicles in exchange

Thus, the Greek Government will only be shipping out the old BMP-1 vehicles when the new ones from Germany arrive in the country. Ukraine has opted for such vehicles since they are very familiar with its technology for being Russian-made

A few hours after the Greek FM sent a letter to the UN regarding both Turkey's threats and demands that Greece demilitarizes all Greek islands (despite treaties allowing for some militarization), the Turkish FM decided to reinforce Turkey's position

"We are not bluffing. If Athens does not comply, we will move things forward" Mevlut Cavusoglu told reporters

For context, Greece is required to nor militarize SOME islands in the Aegean, meaning no large bases, but normal contingents of troops are allowed, Turkey on the other hand tries to claim that since some islands have this obligation of not being demilitarized, other islands near them should also follow the same rules (yes, it is stupid), claims which have been rejected by Greece and the UN (full info here)
