2021-12-24 14:30:14 On the Wayfarer forum, a Roadmap of new features, which will find their way into the product next year, was posted. Among them are some updates for Ingress around portal contributions.

Starting in January/February it will be possible to save your portal contributions for photos and portal submissions for later. In addition, the method for calculating limits for submissions will change from a 14-day system to a daily accrual system. Also, in the future, it will be mandatory to pass the Wayfarer test before submitting portal contributions such as photos, portal suggestions, or title/description suggestions.

Danbocat, the Wayfarer Community Manager, is also trying to get portal suggestions revised by summer so that you can check for duplicates that are not shown in Ingress before submitting a suggestion. However, this feature has not been officially confirmed yet.

2021-12-22 20:01:26 On their Blog, Niantic has shared some statistics on player actions across all Niantic Games for the year that's about to end. As far as Ingress is concerned, the following stats were released:

872 million Resonators deployed
354 billions XM recharged to Resonators
over 2.9 millions of Kinetic Capsule Programs walked
over 43 million jumps of Mark I Drones

2021-12-22 16:46:31 With the new 2.87.1 update a new feature was introduced, which was not announced in the Release Notes! If you scan portals and save them to upload them later, the settings now show how many scans are saved and how much data needs to be uploaded.

In addition, there is a new progress bar that shows how much has already been uploaded.

With this, Niantic is laying the groundwork for the previously announced feature that will allow a player to save new portal submissions as well as new photos and edit requests for later uploading.

2021-12-22 05:01:51 As you may have noticed from the Q1 2022 Events Timetable, 2 new Special Events will take place in February. We have included a brief summary of the characteristics of each event in this post.

"Link to Your Heart" - February 13th to February 15th
During this event, Links shorter than 10km in length will be allowed under existing Control Fields!
Additionally:
- The drop rate for SoftBank Ultra Links on hacks will be increased
- The SoftBank Ultra Link program for Kinetic Capsules will require less distance walked to complete
- Special Glyphs may appear: keep your eyes open when Glyph Hacking!

"Let's Get Toasty" week - February 24th to February 28th
For this event, the following bonuses wil be active:
- Double Glyph Bonus AP on hacks
- Double Glyph Hack Item Output
- Drone Cooldown reduced to 10 minutes between jumps
- Toast Glyph reintroduced to celebrate National Toast Day 2022

2021-12-20 23:27:01 As you may have noticed from Niantic's timetable, starting from the February Second Sunday Event, the Mission Day medal will stop being advanced in favour of a new, [REDACTED], medal. It is still unknown what this medal is called or will look like. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter!
