2021-11-22 22:37:42 A new update containing bugfixes was released for Ingress Prime.

In v2.85.1, the following bugs were fixed:
- Inventory now remembers your last-viewed tab
- Using a Power Cube immediately after deploying a Boost does not hide the XM meter.

2021-11-16 21:11:42 As many of you already noticed and also reported, Ingress together with all the Niantic games are down from 17.50 UTC.
The problem seems to come from an external service used by the games, in particular with Google Cloud system.

Status: (18.20 UTC) Issue resolved, services recovering

2021-11-14 19:50:42 The Rare Battle Beacon is a variant of the normal Battle Beacon and was spotted in some cities yesterday. This is what we know:

- After a Rare Battle Beacon appears, a 10-minute countdown starts. Only after that the fight for the portal begins.
- Instead of 5 checkpoints, there are only 3 checkpoints, which are measured after 3 minutes each. Each checkpoint gives 3/4/5 points to the faction that controls the portal during the checkpoint.
- The new Battle Beacon variant does not reverse the allignement of the portals after a checkpoint. Links and Fields therefore remain standing and are not broken.
- The new Battle Beacons have only appeared in cities where a Mission Day has taken place in the past.
- The Battle Beacons appeared on portals just after a Checkpoint has passed.

It is unknown if and when the new Rare Battle Beacons will be available for purchase in the store or if they will randomly appear above portals in the future.

2021-11-13 02:46:36 Agents are reporting the first sightings of "Rare Battle Beacons" in the Auckland, New Zealand area. These logs are visible from the Intel Map.

2021-11-10 16:30:21 Niantic's Brian Rose and Anthony Maas gave a talk yesterday at the Augmented World Expo 2021 about the integration of Niantic Lightship into Ingress. During this talk, there was a sneak peek at upcoming features that will encourage scanning.

"Scanner Crates" have already been playtested and are said to be an AR geocache, which you can apparently find with the camera at portals. They contain "rare in-game items."

Niantic is also currently working on "community goals," which can be experienced together with others. The rewards of these "shared experiences" will also be shared.

How these two features will be combined with portal scanning is not yet known. It is also unknown when these features will be officially announced.

2021-11-09 18:01:57 Thia, the Community Specialist for Ingress, has had a two hour long call with @van_valdis, randomly picked from the Agents on the forum. In the call, a lot was talked about, including the future of Ingress and what is currently planned, including potential Live Events in mid-2022, Mission Days, and other things.

We want to make it clear that a lot of the things are planned and another lot of things are just ideas. It is not a guarantee that any of these things will happen, as plans can change or be canned completely. A few things are also personal ideas and wishes of Thia as an agent, not from Niantic as a whole, so they should not be seen as things Niantic is actively working on or is even aware of.

2021-11-09 11:01:03 The 9th anniversary of Ingress is almost here! Niantic has now released details around the festivities.

The following bonuses will be active from November 15 at 17.00 UTC to November 29 at 17.00 UTC:

• 2x AP on all actions.
• 2x L8 resonators via portal
• Cooldown of the drone reduced to 9 minutes
• Doubled hackoutput of resonators and power cubes from portals of your faction
• Double hackoutput of XMPs and Ultra Stikes from enemy portals
• Increase inventory capacity to 2180 items for non-subscribed agents/Double items for subscribing/renewing subscription.

Plus the annual medal awarded after the event based on your level:
- Bronze: Level 3
- Silver: Level 9
- Gold: Level 13
- Platinum: Level 15
- Onyx/Recursed: Level 16

Also, there will be some special bundles in the store which can be bought during the event, including the NL-1331 Medal of 2020.
